Hunter Schafer's rise to stardom is partially credited to her role in the Hunger Games prequel, Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. However, it has become evident that she embodies the method acting approach more than we originally believed.
It has been more than ten years since The Hunger Games franchise reached its peak. The series, set in a dystopian society where children are compelled to fight for their lives in an arena controlled by a ruthless authoritarian regime, offered insightful critiques on social hierarchy and brutality.
In 2020, the franchise experienced growth with the publication of a prequel novel by author Suzanne Collins. Titled The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, this book delves into the earlier years of the series' primary antagonist, President Snow. However, it's not just President Snow who gains greater complexity.
Although we have previously discussed in detail Snow's cousin, Tigris, in other articles, it appears that Hunter Schafer would have been an ideal fit for the role, for multiple reasons.
Hunter Schafer once dressed up as a Hunger Games Capitol citizen for Halloween
The release of Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes in theaters has sparked a diverse range of critical responses. To learn about our own review, click here. However, the reaction from fans and the film's success at the box office tell a different tale.
While chatting with talk show host Jimmy Fallon, Schafer delved into the fervor of the Hunger Games fandom, including her own. In fact, she was such a devoted admirer of the series that during her childhood, she uniquely donned the attire of a Capitol citizen for Halloween. Renowned for their vibrant and perhaps ostentatious clothing, Schafer embraced her imaginative side to the fullest extent.
Shafer discussed her fascination with the Capitol individuals' costumes during Halloween, revealing that she even created her own costume at one point. Fallon then displayed a picture of the costume, exclaiming, "This is absolutely incredible. Now you're a part of the Hunger Games."
"I've got it!" Shafer exclaimed with excitement. "As a resident of the Capitol!"
Naturally, this narrative has quickly circulated through the internet, capturing the hearts of countless users on X (formerly Twitter) who find the coincidence extremely charming.
“Now that’s manifestation 101” said one user, while another validated that Schafer was “Born to play the role.”
As the cousin of Coriolanus Snow, Schafer’s Tigris plays a significant role in the prequel, even becoming the first stylist of the Hunger Games.

As an enthusiastic fan of the Hunger Games series, I was thrilled to learn about Hunter Schafer's casting in the prequel film, Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Schafer's commitment to the role is truly admirable, and her personal connection to the Capitol through her childhood Halloween costume is a delightful coincidence.
Schafer's portrayal of Tigris, President Snow's cousin and the first stylist of the Hunger Games, is sure to be a highlight of the film. Her passion for the series and her understanding of the Capitol's culture make her the perfect choice for this role. I can't wait to see her bring Tigris to life on the big screen.
