Nicola Coughlan credits her glowing skin to her upbringing in Ireland. She grew up in Galway, a rainy region in the west of the country, where sunlight was scarce. Coughlan, 37, believes that the lack of sun exposure had a positive impact on keeping her skin healthy. In a recent episode of Vogue's "Beauty Secrets" on YouTube, she shared her daily skincare and makeup routine on May 29.
Coughlan shared that growing up in her home country with a cool and windy climate helped her avoid sun damage on her skin. She humorously mentioned that being financially limited in her twenties was actually beneficial for her skin. She recalled how while her friends went on sunny vacations, she couldn't afford to travel at all.
Nowadays, as Coughlan travels more frequently, especially to promote Bridgerton season 3, she has developed a reliable beauty routine to keep her skin supple and well-hydrated.
In the video, she started by applying a serum to prep her skin before using the NuFace Mini Starter Set, a device that helps tone, lift, and contour facial muscles. Next, she moisturized with the Tatcha Silk Peony Cream and Fenty Beauty Moisturizer, sealing the products in with the Joanna Czech Massager. Moving on to her makeup routine, she used Nars concealer, Evian Facial Spray, and Cle de Peau foundation.
Coughlan shared about her character Penelope Featherington's beauty evolution while getting ready. She mentioned how her glam has evolved over the years, with a focus on different aspects each season.
In the first season, the emphasis was on the hair, according to Coughlan. By season 2, the makeup department gave her a more mature look. And in season 3, Penelope had a moment reminiscent of Pretty Woman.
Penelope and Luke Newton’s character, Colin Bridgerton, take center stage in Season 3 of Bridgerton. Throughout the season, Penelope undergoes a transformation, ditching her simple wardrobe for bolder and more fashionable outfits.

Showrunner Jess Brownell expressed in a May 2022 interview with Variety that she believes it is Colin and Penelope's time to shine. Having seen these actors on screen since season 1, viewers have already formed a connection with them and are invested in their characters.
Brownell mentioned that in the last season, there were moments of tension between Colin and Penelope. Colin seemed to almost realize Penelope's feelings for him, but never quite reached that conclusion. Instead of keeping the dynamic stagnant, they decided to explore it further in the upcoming season. It felt like the perfect time to delve into their relationship.
Bridgerton season 3 will be divided into two parts, with a total of eight episodes. Part 1 is already available for streaming on Netflix, while part 2 is set to be released on Thursday, June 13th.
