Holly Madison agrees with a claim made by Crystal Hefner in her memoir about the Girls Next Door reality show. Crystal stated in her Only Say Good Things memoir released in January that the show, filmed in the Playboy Mansion, caused a "rivalry" between herself and Madison, who is 44 years old. Madison confirmed that this claim is "absolutely true."
Madison recently shared with We that she believes the show may have influenced her to say things that upset her from afar. While promoting her Lethally Blonde true crime series, she mentioned that although there may have been some prompting from the show, she holds no grudge against Crystal, as they have since reconciled.
During the first five seasons of Girls Next Door, Madison was a prominent figure from 2005 to 2009. After parting ways with Hugh Hefner in 2009 and leaving the Playboy Mansion, she bid farewell to the reality show as well. When Crystal took on the role of Hugh’s "main girlfriend," Madison still felt her presence lingering in the house, which inevitably spilled over into the show.
Crystal remembered saying in her first Girls Next Door scene back in 2009 that she was not the new Holly, but rather the old her. During filming for her Playboy holiday shoot, she had a sprig of holly hanging over her head. In her January memoir, Crystal mentioned how there was an attempt to create rivalry between her and Holly Madison.

Madison, for her part, told Us that she’s since read Crystal’s books and has a lot of feelings.
Madison expressed, "I have so many thoughts I could sit here for an hour. Eventually I’d love to give you a good answer, but Bridget [Marquardt] and I are going to get together — on our podcast or something and with some other people — and are going to really go in depth, but it’s such a big thing."
She also mentioned to Us that it was “therapeutic in a way” to read Crystal’s book.
“I don’t know if it was eye-opening,” she added. “I don’t really know how to put it in words. I really need to dive in and do a deep dive.”
