Hoda Kotb decided to swap the chilly weather of New York City for a relaxing spring break at the beach.

During a break from her duties on the Today show, the 59-year-old Kotb gave her followers a peek into her tropical getaway with her daughters Haley, 7, and Hope, 4. She posted a series of photos on Instagram on Thursday, March 21, captioned with, “Beautiful days … magical nights ️️️.”

Kotb's carousel started with a cute photo of her and her sister, Hala, sitting on a swinging sofa with Haley and Hope on their laps. They enjoyed their time together on the beach, lighting sparklers and running around.

In an Instagram video, Kotb can be heard encouraging her daughters to run towards her. Hope then reminded her to watch out for prickly things on the sand. The clip ends with Hope running back down the beach.

Kotb recently posted on Instagram about her family vacation, sharing a beautiful beach sunset with a red heart emoji.

Several Today hosts, including Kotb, have been missing from recent episodes. Laura Jarrett from Saturday Today has been filling in for Kotb and Savannah Guthrie in the first two hours of the show, as well as for Sheinelle Jones in the third hour.

Jarett, who is 40 years old, stepped in for Jenna Bush Hager on the episode of Today With Hoda and Jenna that aired on Wednesday, March 20th. This particular episode was prerecorded. Then, on Thursday, Jarett took over for Dylan Dreyer during the show’s third hour. (Both Dreyer and Bush Hager, who are both 42 years old, were back for the broadcast on Friday, March 22nd.)

Hoda Kotb shared a post on her Instagram account.

Her absence from work during her vacation comes a year after she took time off from the NBC morning show in February 2023 for a "family health matter." When she returned to the show a month later, Kotb revealed that she had been away because her daughter Hope was in the ICU. (Kotb is a mother to her children with her ex-fiancé, Joel Schiffman.)

In March 2023, she expressed her gratitude for her daughter being home, saying, "I was waiting for that day to come. And we are watching her closely. I'm just so happy."

Following that, Kotb took two more breaks from Today. The first was during her daughters' spring break from school, and the second was to recover from a sickness.

Earlier this month, Kotb shared details about Hope’s health scare in an interview with People. She described it as a "scary stretch" that any parent who has gone through a similar experience can relate to. The feeling of helplessness when your child is sick is overwhelming, and you can't shake off the worry no matter what you do.

Kotb mentioned that Hope's health has since "stabilized," but she emphasized that she doesn't want her daughter to be defined by her condition. She wants people to see Hope for the vibrant kid that she is, despite the challenges she may face. It's important to Kotb that others don't treat Hope differently because of her health scare.

She went on to praise Hope’s strength, stating that she will “have the easiest adulthood because she’s had a tough go of it early on.”
