Apex Legends is finally introducing Cross-Progression in Season 19, allowing players to merge their accounts and access all cosmetics across platforms.
Cross-Progression enhances the current Cross-play feature by enabling players to compete with others, regardless of their platform.
Respawn Entertainment has dedicated significant resources to develop and thoroughly test the Cross-Progression functionality, guaranteeing that players will not lose any valuable items during the transition.
Apex Legends is finally introducing Cross-Progression with the upcoming launch of season 19: Ignite. The game already offers Cross-play, which allows players to compete against each other across different platforms, but the ability to have all their owned cosmetics and progress in one place was missing. However, with the mandatory account merger that will be implemented in Season 19, players will be able to enjoy their cosmetics and progress on any platform they choose. This exciting update also brings new content, such as the addition of the character Conduit, updates to the Storm Point map, and a fresh Battle Pass.
Cross-play and Cross-progression are complex features to implement, but Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment has been diligently working on them. The concept is straightforward: instead of maintaining separate accounts for PC, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox, players can seamlessly merge these accounts when playing Apex. This means that if someone plays on both their PC and Xbox, they will have access to all unlockables from both accounts, as they become one unified account. This includes all earned cosmetics, badges, achievements, and more across all platforms. So, whether someone has Apex Legends on Switch, PC, PlayStation, or Xbox, everything will have a centralized home starting from Season 19.
Concerns may arise among Apex Legends players when they unlock something as intricate as a merger. Losing valuable items like an Apex Legends heirloom would be unfortunate, but given the extensive testing and effort put in by Respawn Entertainment, it is unlikely that the company would overlook such an occurrence. The fanbase has long desired this feature, which is challenging to deliver, making it reassuring to see the considerable amount of time Respawn has invested in its development.
Regarding what else Apex Legends Season 19 has in store, fans are undoubtedly most curious about Conduit. It will be intriguing to witness her impact on the Apex Legends meta, as she is the first character with a "healer" archetype since Lifeline. While Lifeline focuses on health, Conduit centers her abilities around shields, ensuring there is potential synergy between the two if they are paired together.
Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
