Game developer Hideo Kojima has garnered attention on X (formerly Twitter) with his contrasting posts about The Killer and The Marvels.
While The Marvels, the upcoming major release from the MCU, has built anticipation as a sequel to beloved projects like Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and WandaVision, the response has been varied.
Captain Marvel's debut film was a blockbuster success in 2019, raking in a staggering $1 billion worldwide. However, it appears that her upcoming movie is on track to become one of Marvel's major disappointments.
In terms of critical reception, it's also not faring well, with even renowned figure Hideo Kojima seemingly expressing disapproval towards the film.
Hideo Kojima praises The Killer, stays quiet on The Marvels
On Twitter, two posts from renowned game developer Hideo Kojima, famous for the Metal Gear series, are circulating and they appear to express his appreciation for a particular film while indicating a possible aversion to another.
David Fincher's The Killer, which was recently released on Netflix after a limited theatrical run, received high praise from Kojima. In a long paragraph, he expressed his belief that The Killer would become a powerful intellectual property, and expressed his wish to have seen it in a movie theater. Kojima highly recommended the film. Regarding The Marvels, Kojima simply stated that he saw it on IMAX 3D.
The varying reactions have naturally caused social media users to draw comparisons, resulting in numerous jokes about his potential views on both movies.
"Rotten Tomatoes is truly insignificant when you have Kojima; his reactions tell you everything you need to know," commented one user. On that note, The Killer currently stands at 85% on the site, while The Marvels has garnered a critic's rating of 62%. However, their audience scores are practically reversed, implying that not everyone would share Kojima's opinions.
Both movies, The Marvels and The Killer, are now available either in theaters or on streaming services. The synopsis of The Marvels states: "Carol Danvers, also known as Captain Marvel, has regained her true self from the oppressive Kree and seeks vengeance against the Supreme Intelligence. However, unforeseen consequences arise, burdening her with the responsibility of an unstable universe."
Meanwhile, The Killer depicts a character who is "solitary, cold, methodical, and devoid of morality or remorse. He patiently lurks in the shadows, observing his next victim. However, the longer he waits, the more he questions his sanity and composure."

As a Gen Z fan, I find Hideo Kojima's enigmatic tweet about "The Marvels" intriguing and thought-provoking. His contrasting reactions to "The Killer" and "The Marvels" have sparked a lot of discussion and speculation among fans and gamers.
While "The Marvels" is a highly anticipated sequel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems to be receiving mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike. On the other hand, "The Killer," a film by David Fincher, has been praised by Kojima and many others for its intellectual property and cinematic experience.
It's interesting to see how Kojima's opinions differ from the general consensus and how his tweets have influenced the perception of both movies. As a fan of both Kojima and Marvel, I'm curious to see how "The Marvels" will perform at the box office and how it will be received by audiences worldwide.
