Dancers Hayley Erbert and Derek Hough are feeling grateful after Hayley's successful surgery, a source exclusively reveals in the latest issue of We. "They spent the holiday feeling overwhelmed with gratitude that the surgery was a success and Hayley is on the mend," the insider says.
The source added that the situation has given the couple a renewed appreciation for their life together.
Last month, Hough, 38, shared that his wife, 29, had to undergo an emergency craniectomy after experiencing disorientation following their Symphony of Dance tour performance on December 7. Erbert was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma resulting from a burst blood vessel at the time.

Hough provided an update on Erbert's condition on December 20, and requested positive thoughts as she prepared for a second procedure. He explained, "She is undergoing surgery this morning to replace a significant portion of her skull that was removed during her Craniectomy. Please keep her in your prayers as I believe the collective energy helped her through these past few weeks." The Dancing With the Stars judge confirmed on December 21 that Erbert's second surgery was "successfully completed as planned." He shared a photo from her hospital bed and expressed gratitude for everyone's ongoing support.
"My family and I are hopeful and optimistic about the future, knowing that Hayley is on the road to a complete recovery, thanks to the support of our loving community," Hough concluded.
Erbert spoke out about her health scare on December 25, posting a photo of herself kissing her husband in front of their Christmas tree. "Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas! Cherishing the greatest gift of all - the precious gift of life and the love we share," she wrote.
Earlier this month, Hough looked back on the frightening experience he and Erbert had gone through, as they accepted the Creative Arts Emmy award for Outstanding Choreography for Variety or Reality Programming for Dancing With the Stars.

Erbert took to Instagram the following day to celebrate her husband, saying, "Huge congratulations to my amazing husband on his 4th Emmy win! ... What a beautiful way to come back home after such a challenging month."
