Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie initially had a rough start when collaborating on the new movie Maude v Maude, however, Berry, 57, stated at the Red Sea Film Festival on December 6 that she believes their early challenges will only enhance their on-screen chemistry. She praised Jolie, 48, as "formidable" and expressed excitement about working with another woman to bring their unique perspective to the story.

Berry did not disclose the cause of her initial disagreement with Jolie, hinting that people will have to wait to uncover the truth behind the "good" story. Eventually, the two resolved their differences by discussing their romantic histories.

"We've been having deep conversations about divorces and exes," the Moonfall star revealed. "It brought us closer, I'll put it that way."

Berry has handled breakups in the public eye, having been married to David Justice from 1993 to 1997, Eric Benét from 2001 to 2005, and Olivier Martinez from 2013 to 2016. She has been dating singer Van Hunt since 2020. Jolie, on the other hand, has not publicly dated anyone since her divorce from Brad Pitt in September 2016. They married in 2014 after nine years together. Jolie accused Pitt of being “physically and emotionally abusive” towards her and their children during a 2016 flight. The exes share six children.

Despite denying the claims, Pitt was cleared of child abuse allegations by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services in November. Even though the two were legally declared single in 2019, they have been embroiled in a messy custody battle ever since. Pitt subsequently moved on with Alia Shawkat, Nicole Poturalski, and Emily Ratajkowski before starting a romance with Ines de Ramon in late 2022.

Earlier this year, Jolie acknowledged that she is still "in transition as a person" after her separation from Pitt. In a November Vogue cover story, she admitted, "I feel a bit down these days. I don't feel like I've been myself for a decade, in a way, which I don't want to get into. [My family] had a lot of healing to do. We're still finding our footing."

Deal:

Jolie and Pitt first fell in love while filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2005, a movie that Berry cited as an influence for Maude v Muade. Berry described the project on Wednesday as a blend of spy romance and Mission: Impossible, with a touch of humor. Both Berry and Jolie will not only star in the film but also act as co-producers.

During the film festival, Berry mentioned that she was using her time in Saudi Arabia to search for locations for the upcoming international film. "We intend to travel all over the world," she hinted. "Warner Bros. has acquired our screenplay, and for us, it's about showcasing places that have never been seen on screen before."
