Gwen Stefani is not bothered by the rumors circulating about her marriage to Blake Shelton. In an interview with Nylon on Tuesday, April 9, Stefani, 54, shared that when you are in love and share similar values, outside opinions cannot affect you. She dismissed the social media speculation about their relationship, stating that people can say whatever they want, but the truth remains unchanged. "A week ago, there were rumors about us getting divorced again or something," Stefani said, "but it's all lies. We know the truth and that's all that matters."
The No Doubt singer has shared that she has experienced insecurities about their relationship, which served as the inspiration for their duet released in February called “Purple Irises.”
In the song, she sings, “If someone comes along and tries to love you like I do, don’t know what I’d do, don’t want to lose you.” She later adds, “No, I never knew a love like this. Now we’re picking purple irises.”
Stefani opened up about her feelings that inspired her to write "Purple Irises." She shared that she went through a phase where she questioned if she was just getting older and if she was still cute. Despite knowing the truth about her relationship with Blake Shelton, she found herself creating drama in her mind due to her insecurities and fears about the future.
Shelton also admitted to having concerns about their relationship.
"It's something we both worry about," he shared with Nylon. They often have discussions about whether their love will remain strong as they age or if they lose themselves.
On the other hand, his wife sees "Purple Irises" as a representation of their deep connection.
“So that [negativity] would never penetrate just by me being vulnerable and sharing a song that I didn’t write for anybody else but myself and Blake,” Stefani said.
