With the project so many years in the making, the reunion of the cast and Ridley Scott after so long was bound to cause some emotions on set. In a recent Screen Rant interview about Role Play, an upcoming thriller starring Connie Nielsen, the actress reflected on how it felt to be back working with Ridley Scott and the cast of Gladiator 2.

Connie Nielsen expressed her excitement, saying, "It's been crazy cool. It's been insane and such a privilege. I keep saying the word privilege, but that's what I feel. It's been super emotional as well. I am struggling with the words there. It's been crazy and amazing."

Gladiator 2 Is The Comeback Ridley Scott Needs
Anticipation has been building for this sequel for over two decades now, and obviously, it's important for the fans that this film is executed well and becomes a success after so much time spent waiting. However, it's also a key moment in director Ridley Scott's career and could serve as a big harbinger of what's to come - for better or for worse.

After the overall middling release for Napoleon, Gladiator 2 succeeding at the box office and with critics would be a pivotal moment for Scott, serving as a worthy comeback after a bit of a career slump.
Given how well the first film was received, and coupled with Neilsen's excitement at reuniting with the cast and creative team, the future of the film is looking bright. With its time jump and blend of old and new characters, there's a great deal of potential when it comes to what Ridley Scott can achieve with the project.
Many of the more concrete details of Gladiator 2 are still under wraps, so it's hard to predict just what fans should expect from the sequel, but if Neilsen's enthusiasm is any indication, there may be a lot to look forward to later this year.
