At the 2024 Golden Globes, Gillian Anderson made a bold fashion statement with a strapless Gabriela Hearst gown adorned with embroidered vaginas, paying homage to the female anatomy. The 55-year-old actress certainly turned heads with her sartorial tribute at the Sunday, January 7, award show.
Anderson confirmed the unique design to Deadline at the event, citing multiple reasons for wearing it, and stating that it was brand appropriate. Most likely, she was referring to her portrayal of Jean Milburn, a sex therapist, on the hit show Sex Education.

To complete her look, Anderson paired the one-of-a-kind dress with a sleek maroon Aquazzura bag and accessorized with stunning diamond jewelry including a necklace, bracelet, and earrings from the esteemed luxury brand Chopard.
Her long blonde hair was swept back behind her shoulders as she walked through the hotel lobby on her way to the ceremony. With smokey eyeshadow, long lashes, light blush, and pink lipstick, Anderson sported an iconic look in an Instagram video posted on Monday, January 8.
She posted: “#yonioftheday @goldenglobes style Thrilled to partner with my friend @gabrielahearst on this stunning custom embroidered dress. Each yoni motif took about 3.5 hours to embroider and was created entirely in the garment district of NYC.”

During a 2020 interview with Vogue, Anderson discussed her role in Sex Education and how she believes it has helped to break down taboo barriers. She stated, "Nothing like this had ever been done before. It allowed young people to have conversations about things that were viewed as shameful. Those things are part of our everyday lives, but people pretend they don’t exist because they bring out too many feelings or reveal too much about ourselves."
