Get Ready for the Epic House of the Dragon: Game of Thrones Spinoff Death that Surpasses All Expectations!

House of the Dragon's fiery demise surpasses GOT's spinoff, as Good Omens teases a Targaryen-style death for Ty Tennant's character in Season 2

WARNING! This article contains spoilers for Good Omens season 2, episode 2! Good Omens season 2 introduces Ty Tennant, the actor who portrays Young Aegon in House of the Dragon, in a brief cameo. This cameo almost fulfills the death that the Game of Thrones spinoff was unable to include. In addition to David Tennant reprising his role as Crowley, the season 2 cast of Good Omens also includes two family members of the actor: his father-in-law, Peter Davison from Doctor Who, and his son, Ty Tennant from House of the Dragon season 1.

Despite only appearing in two episodes of House of the Dragon season 1 as Young Aegon Targaryen, Ty Tennant made the most of his screen time. His character, a disliked individual, defaced his bedroom window, got drunk at a funeral, and was frequently scolded by his mother. It is unlikely that Ty Tennant will return to House of the Dragon, unless there are flashbacks in the Game of Thrones prequel, as his character survives into adulthood during the Dance of the Dragons. However, many fans had hoped in vain to witness Aegon's demise in House of the Dragon season 1, only to have Tennant's new role in Good Omens ironically hint at a Targaryen-like death.

Ty Tennant's Good Omens Season 2 Character Ironically Almost Dies By Fire

In Good Omens season 2, episode 2, Ty Tennant portrays Ennon, the condemned son of Job. Ennon faces a fiery death orchestrated by David Tennant's demon character Crowley, who sets their home ablaze along with two of Job's other children. However, just before the flames consume him, Ennon undergoes a surprising transformation into a lizard. Interestingly, this near-death experience mirrors what one might expect for a character in House of the Dragon, particularly a reckless young Targaryen who incurs the wrath of other dragon riders.

In House of the Dragon season 1, Young Aegon avoids a death by fire, unlike the fate of Ty Tennant's character in Good Omens. Ennon, fortunately, escapes a fiery demise when Crowley spares him, instead transforming him into a yellow lizard. It's worth noting the connection between lizards and dragons, as they are often associated with each other. The close encounter with fire, followed by the transformation into a lizard, adds an intriguing layer to Ty Tennant's character in Good Omens.

How Aegon Really Dies In House Of The Dragon

Despite the prevalence of death by fire in House of the Dragon, Ty Tennant's character Aegon will not meet this fate. In the Game of Thrones prequel, Aegon II Targaryen, though severely burned during the civil war, dies much later than Rhaenyra. Rhaenyra, on the other hand, is burned alive and consumed by Aegon's dragon. According to George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood book, Aegon eventually succumbs to poisoning inflicted by his own men, suspected to be Lord Larys Strong, Lord Corlys Velaryon, and Ser Perkin the Flea.

Interestingly, Ty Tennant's new characters often find themselves entangled in narratives of familial betrayal and death by fire, despite his House of the Dragon character managing to avoid such a fate. Although it is unlikely for Tennant to reappear in either House of the Dragon or Good Omens, he may continue to take on fire-related roles in the future. Given that both his father and grandfather had notable roles as Doctors on Doctor Who, this long-standing series could be where Ty Tennant discovers his next fantasy role, preferably one that doesn't involve fire.
