They dug an impressive 62x62-block hole from the surface all the way down to the ancient structure. This endeavor took them approximately two weeks of intermittent playtime and required manually removing around 380,000 blocks using Netherite pickaxes.

Although putting in endless hours merely to dig a colossal hole may not appeal to all players, it often becomes necessary for those aiming to construct specific mob farms or mega bases. This predicament has even prompted a fan to fully automate this process in Minecraft. The ancient cities themselves offer a wealth of discoveries for explorative players, including the introduction of the Warden mob, which brings a newfound element of horror to the game.
