Anya Taylor-Joy, who plays Furiosa, took to Instagram on October 27, 2022, to announce the completion of filming. "Thank you to all those in the wasteland – the wild ones who have journeyed with me across this land," she expressed. "The most enjoyable, the most determined, the most skilled."

Furiosa plot details – What will the film be about?

"Collaborating with all of you has been a privilege and an honor...thank you for pushing me to be stronger than I ever imagined. Fire, blood, and guzzoline," Taylor-Joy concluded, signing off as "Furianya."

Furiosa serves as a prequel to the 2015 film Fury Road, focusing on a young version of the character as the protagonist. Warner Bros. released an official synopsis for this Mad Max movie in June 2022, which describes the story of a young Furiosa being taken from the Green Place of Many Mothers and ending up in the hands of a powerful Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus as the world falls apart.

Anya Taylor-Joy as Imperator Furiosa

Chris Hemsworth as Warlord Dementus

Nathan Jones as Rictus Erectus

Angus Sampson as The Organic Mechanic

Daniel Webber as War Boy

While Charlize Theron originally portrayed Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road, Anya Taylor-Joy will take over the role in the prequel. George Miller addressed this casting decision in an October 2020 interview with The New York Times, insisting that digital de-aging technology still wasn’t convincing enough for Theron to play the war captain’s younger self.

"I used to think we could just use CG de-aging on Charlize," he mentioned, "But I don't believe we're quite there yet." Theron herself confessed to The Hollywood Reporter that being replaced by Taylor-Joy was "a little heartbreaking," although she added that she is still "very grateful" to have contributed to the creation of the Furiosa character in Mad Max: Fury Road.

Chris Hemsworth, another top Hollywood actor, is also part of the Furiosa cast, portraying one of the film's primary antagonists, Warlord Dementus. In a recent GQ interview, the Australian star praised his experience on the set of the fifth Mad Max installment, calling it "by far the best experience of my career, and something I feel the most proud of."

The confirmed cast for Furiosa includes Nathan Jones as Rictus Erectus, Angus Sampson as The Organic Mechanic, as well as Tom Burke, Quaden Bayles, and Lachy Hulme in unspecified roles.

Behind the camera, George Miller is directing Furiosa, working from a script he co-wrote with Nico Lathouris. Returning crew members from Mad Max: Fury Road include production designer Colin Gibson, editor Margaret Sixel, and makeup designer Lesley Vanderwalt.

Editor's P/S

As a Gen Z fan, I am incredibly excited about the upcoming prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road, titled Furiosa. The original film was a masterpiece of action cinema, and I can't wait to see more of the world that George Miller has created. The prequel will focus on a young version of the character Furiosa, played by Anya Taylor-Joy, and will explore her origins and how she became the war captain we see in Fury Road.

The cast is absolutely stacked, with Chris Hemsworth, Nathan Jones, and Angus Sampson all on board. I'm particularly excited to see Hemsworth as the villainous Warlord Dementus. The plot sounds like it will be just as action-packed and thrilling as the original, and I can't wait to see how Furiosa's story unfolds.

Overall, I think Furiosa has the potential to be one of the best action movies of the decade. I'm a big fan of the Mad Max franchise, and I can't wait to see what George Miller has in store for us this time.
