Over the course of her Star Wars journey, Sabine has been in contact with Jedi figures, including Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger from the events depicted in Star Wars Rebels, as well as serving as Ahsoka Tano's apprentice during the animated series and subsequent Ahsoka novel. The ways of the space wizards in the Star Wars universe are nothing unfamiliar to Sabine.

That being said, Sabine never demonstrated any Force abilities in Star Wars Rebels. This aspect was reserved for Ahsoka, as it explored Sabine's training under her. In the latest Star Wars series, however, Sabine's connection to the Force has been portrayed as very limited, causing frustration. While being strangled by one of Thrawn's reanimated Death Troopers, Sabine saw her lightsaber just out of reach and, in a desperate attempt to survive, she used the Force to pull it towards her and defeat the trooper. This only escalated further when Sabine later demonstrated her remarkable power by using the Force to push Ezra Bridger onto Grand Admiral Thrawn's ship. It was in this episode that Sabine's connection to the Force was firmly established.

Why Did Sabine Need To "Unlock" The Force?

Sabine's arduous journey in unlocking the Force alongside Ahsoka raises the question of why she struggled while other Jedi effortlessly connected with the enigmatic energy of Star Wars. Unfortunately, the answer to this remains unexplored in Ahsoka episode 8's conclusion, but broader Star Wars narratives might offer clues. One explanation could be Sabine's upbringing as a Mandalorian, a culture known for being determined, obstinate, and independent. These traits might have made her less inclined to embrace the Force.

Another possibility is that there are numerous individuals across the galaxy who are simply awaiting the awakening of the Force within them. The sequel trilogy introduced this concept with Rey's sudden Force connection in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Similarly, Luke Skywalker's Force abilities only fully materialized once he began training under Obi-Wan Kenobi. Therefore, Sabine might be just one person among many potential Jedi who are awaiting the right circumstances to unlock their powers, with Ahsoka episode 8 serving as the catalyst for her own Force awakening.

How Powerful A Jedi Will Sabine Become?

Sabine's unlocking of the Force in Ahsoka episode 8 raises the question of her potential as a Jedi. With Ahsoka as her mentor, it is probable that she will become exceptionally strong if she survives long enough to complete her training. Ahsoka's lineage traces back to the esteemed Jedi Grand Master Yoda, making her a part of a legacy of powerful Force users. Additionally, Ahsoka learned from Anakin Skywalker, the Chosen One of the Force, whose Midi-chlorian count surpassed even Yoda's.

Though Sabine does not share a bloodline with these remarkable individuals, she is still being taught by those who trained the most formidable Jedi of the prequel era.
