Bridgerton actress Ruby Barker recently opened up about her journey towards improved physical and mental health, proudly showcasing her body transformation.
"On Instagram, on Thursday, September 28, the 26-year-old star shared a before and after photo of herself, captioning it with a reflection on the importance of inner growth. She expressed that while her focus has been on inner work, she has also seen positive changes in her body such as weight loss and toning up. This transformation has been achieved through activities like cooking, exercise, prioritizing sleep, and learning to accept herself while still pushing forward."
Her progress wasn't immediate; it required months of dedicated effort to fully embrace her lifestyle changes and improve her physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being. What started as small adjustments soon led to significant victories.
The actress remembered experiencing panic attacks whenever she considered going to a gym.
"Ignoring my breathlessness after climbing stairs, I would sprint to the bathroom to regain my composure. I would deprive myself of food all day, only to indulge in excessive eating, feeling awful, and repeating the cycle," she revealed.
In the image on the left, Barker expressed feeling far from content and sensing the loss of her mental stability and motivation to nurture her inner child by cooking, cleaning, working, and embracing life for herself.
Barker expressed her newfound passion for being active and taking care of herself, thanks to the guidance of a fitness coach and supportive friends. She concluded her message by emphasizing the importance of health. In the past, Barker acknowledged showrunner Shonda Rhimes for providing assistance with her mental well-being during her hospitalization in the previous year.
“I want to be completely transparent with everyone, I've been facing challenges," she shared in a now-deleted Instagram video in May 2022. "Currently, I'm in the hospital, but I anticipate being discharged soon, allowing me to resume my journey and take some time off for self-reflection."

She went on to thank Rhimes, 53, and Netflix “for giving me an opportunity, for saving me,” as well as her best friends for their support.

Barker dropped out of a West End production due to her mental health and contracting COVID-19. She expressed optimism about fulfilling her commitments and having a successful life, refusing to let her diagnosis define her. Barker assured her audience that she will survive and so will they, and she appreciated their support. While it is unclear if Barker will reprise her role as Marina in Bridgerton season 3, the storyline will revolve around characters connected to her, specifically the romance between her cousin Penelope and her former fiancé, Colin Bridgerton.
