The release date for the anime adaptation of Kuso Miso Technique, a manga story from the '80s that became a popular meme in the early 2000s, has been announced. The official X (formerly Twitter) account for Kuso Miso Technique recently confirmed that the anime will debut next year. This update also includes the first key visual of the project by illustrator Yumeko Kiraiyama. Junichi Yamakawa created the infamous bara (gay) hentai manga Kuso Miso Technique, which depicts a peculiar sexual encounter between two men in a restroom. Initially starting as an April Fool's Joke in 2023, an actual crowdfunding campaign was launched for the project last year. The episode, which will present a version suitable for all ages, is now set to premiere on April 1, 2024.
Yamakawa's one-shot manga features Masaki Michishita, a young student at a prep school, who meets Takakazu Abe, an older man, in a public park. After Abe asks Michishita if he is interested, the two engage in a sexual encounter in the park restroom. Unlike other hentai titles that portray sex in a strange or exaggerated manner, this one-shot gained notoriety for its explicit content and humorous dialogue. Acknowledging this, the original April Fools' X post in 2023 asked viewers if they remembered the quote "Do you want to do it?" from the original manga.
Studio Leo and Anime Tokyo are collaborating to produce "Kuso Miso Technique." Directed by Maki Ito (known as Pierre Ito), who is renowned for creating the Mouseman films. Fumi Sugatsuka is responsible for the script with scenario assistance from Taiten Kawakami. Yi Zhang, known for directing episodes of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, serves as the chief animation director and character designer. The main animation director for the project is Sumito Sasaki (also known for works like "Reborn as a Vending Machine, Now I Wander the Dungeon"). The cast details have not been announced yet.
Director Ito's previous works mainly focus on romance in films such as Mouseman. Transcending genres, Mouseman is a sci-fi drama that follows the journey of a young man turning into a cyborg while grappling with his profound love for a human woman. The first installment, Period of the Mouseman, hit theaters in 2018, followed by the premiere of the second film, Mouseman: Ai no Katamari, in September 2020. In addition, Ito helmed the 2021 film World, Before You End, a captivating love story that explores the connection between two individuals separated by time and space, compelled to uncover their intertwined histories to avert an impending apocalypse.
Mark your calendars for Kuso Miso Technique, which will make its highly anticipated debut on April 1, 2024.
