Fortnite's incredible popularity continues to defy description, even five years after its release. This was highlighted by the game's recent milestone of over 7.6 million concurrent players, following the launch of three new in-game experiences: Lego Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival.
On Saturday, December 9, Fortnite recorded this massive player count and saw over 7.3 million people playing the game the following day. The surge in numbers can be attributed to the addition of a Lego sandbox game, arcade racer, and semi Rock Band successor in the past week. These figures even surpassed the player count during the hugely popular original season from last month.
The addition of Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival, developed by Psyonix and Harmonix respectively, give the game a Fortnite 2 feel, even if Epic hasn't officially claimed it. Additionally, Lego Fortnite, created by Epic, has already attracted over 2 million concurrent players since its recent addition to the game.
Despite Fortnite's popularity, it is still unable to persuade Nintendo to bring characters such as Mario and Link into the game, despite their efforts. Notably, Fortnite has successfully introduced iconic characters from Microsoft and Sony, such as Master Chief and Kratos, in the past.

As an enthusiastic fan of Fortnite, I am thrilled to hear about the game's latest milestone of surpassing 76 million concurrent players. The introduction of Lego Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival has brought a fresh wave of excitement to the game, attracting even more players and keeping the community engaged. The addition of these new experiences has given Fortnite a new lease on life, making it feel like a brand-new game. I can't wait to see what Epic Games has in store for us in the future and how Fortnite will continue to evolve and captivate players worldwide.
However, I am disappointed that Nintendo has not yet allowed characters like Mario and Link to be included in Fortnite. It would be amazing to see these iconic characters interact with the Fortnite universe and bring even more variety to the game. I hope that Epic Games and Nintendo can come to an agreement in the future to make this happen. Overall, I am incredibly excited about the future of Fortnite and can't wait to see what new heights it will reach.
