Forspoken Exceeds Redfall's Player Count on Steam

Forspoken, despite mixed reviews, has garnered a larger player base on Steam compared to Redfall The game's unique storyline and gameplay mechanics seem to have captured the attention of gamers worldwide

Forspoken is currently enjoying more popularity among gamers on Steam than its AAA counterpart, Redfall. Despite being launched by major publishers, both games received mixed reviews upon release, with Forspoken scoring marginally higher than Redfall on Metacritic, albeit underwhelmingly at less than 65. While the PS5 version of Forspoken has a Metacritic score of 64, the Xbox Series X edition of Redfall lags behind with a rating of 56. However, user scores on Metacritic indicate a closer competition, with Forspoken and Redfall tied at 3.6 and 3.4 respectively. Although both titles have received lackluster feedback, Forspoken has emerged as the more popular game on Steam.

At the time of writing, Forspoken appears to have a slightly higher player count on SteamDB compared to Redfall, with 124 and 112 players respectively. This may come as a surprise to some fans, as Redfall is a more recent release and emphasizes co-op play. However, it's worth noting that Redfall is also available on Xbox Game Pass without an additional cost, which could potentially attract more players on other PC storefronts. On the other hand, Square Enix's release of the In Tanta We Trust DLC for Forspoken may have contributed to the higher player count. Players who purchased the deluxe edition of Forspoken can enjoy this DLC for free, along with a mini artbook and soundtrack. Despite these factors, both games have yet to gain significant traction on Steam, with Forspoken only slightly edging out Redfall in terms of concurrent players.

Forspoken outperforms Redfall in the user score on Steam, with a Mixed rating compared to Redfall's Mostly Negative. Redfall is among the games with the lowest ratings on Steam, alongside titles such as Resident Evil Resistance and Wolfenstein: Youngblood. While it remains to be seen how Redfall will fare on Microsoft's launcher, its performance on Xbox consoles has not been impressive, having already dropped out of the top 50 most-played games within a month of its release. However, the upcoming 60 FPS update may attract more players to give it a chance.

Redfall is out now on PC and Xbox Series X. Forspoken is available now on PC and PS5.
