Former 'Home Improvement' star Zachery Ty Bryan pleads guilty to felony assault, robbery, and harassment charges, following his arrest in July The actor's legal troubles continue to unfold as he faces the consequences of his actions

Zachery Ty Bryan, 42, has been sentenced to jail following his recent legal troubles. He was arrested for fourth-degree felony assault, third-degree robbery, and harassment. On Wednesday, October 25, Bryan pleaded guilty to the charge of felony assault in the fourth degree, which involved domestic violence. The second count was dropped as part of a negotiated resolution.

The actor will be given a "downward dispositional departure" and instead of serving 19 to 20 months in Oregon Department of Corrections, he will be placed on 36 months of supervised probation. Additionally, he will spend seven days in jail and must adhere to a set of conditions commonly seen in domestic violence cases. Lane County's Chief Deputy District Attorney Chris Parosa stated that Mr. Bryan chose to accept this resolution and admit to recklessly causing physical injury to his domestic partner, in order to prevent further trauma to his family and allow them to move forward and heal.

After the hearing, Bryan's lawyer spoke about his client's plea, stating, "He is of the opinion that this approach would be most effective in resolving the matter, thereby preventing additional distress to his family."

Zachery Ty Bryan, known for his role in Home Improvement, was taken into custody at Lane County Jail in Eugene, Oregon. The arrest took place in July after he was accused of being involved in a physical domestic altercation with a woman. Bryan has been charged with assault, robbery, and harassment, with the assault charge being a felony and the other two being a misdemeanor.

Bryan encountered legal troubles when he was taken into custody in October 2020 on allegations of strangling his fiancée, Johnnie Faye Cartwright. In February 2021, we verified that Bryan had accepted a plea agreement in the domestic violence case. This agreement involved admitting guilt to charges of menacing and fourth-degree assault.

As part of his sentence, Bryan was placed on a three-year probationary period that mandated his participation in a violence intervention program known as Bridges2Safety. The stipulations of the agreement also led to the dismissal of six additional charges, including strangulation and coercion, which had been brought against him by prosecutors.

He was also instructed by the court to refrain from "purchasing, possessing, or consuming alcoholic beverages" or visiting establishments primarily dedicated to selling or serving alcohol. In May 2020, Bryan was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) and subsequently pleaded guilty. As a result, he received a five-year probationary period and was mandated to participate in an 18-month alcohol rehabilitation program designed for repeat offenders, taking into account his prior DUI records.
