Explosive Revelation: Trump Takes Full Responsibility for Attempting to Overturn 2020 Election Results

Former President Donald Trump admits it was his choice to propagate the false narrative of winning the 2020 election and attempting to overturn the results, despite receiving advice from various individuals

In a Sunday interview with NBC's "Meet the Press," former President Donald Trump acknowledged that while he sought counsel from various individuals following the 2020 election, ultimately it was his choice to propagate the unfounded assertion of winning the presidency and attempt to invalidate the results.

Trump has been charged for attempting to undermine the outcome of the 2020 election. Special Counsel Jack Smith argues, in his indictment against the former president, that Trump was aware the election claims he was making were untrue. Despite being informed by trusted advisors that he had lost, Trump chose to spread these falsehoods to create the illusion of legitimacy, potentially as part of a criminal conspiracy.

During an interview with Kristen Welker, Trump reiterated the baseless assertion, stating, "I listened to various individuals, and when I considered everything, it became evident that the election was rigged." This statement aligns with his campaign for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

"You know who I listen to? Myself. I saw what happened," Trump said.

Former President Donald Trump, a Republican presidential candidate, made his arrival at the Monument Leaders Rally hosted by the South Dakota Republican Party on September 08, 2023, in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Trump declares his endorsement for mental competency assessments for presidential candidates amidst worries over age. Disregarding the counsel of his lawyers, he claimed that his defeat in the election stemmed from his lack of regard for them.

"You hire individuals whom you've never met, relying on recommendations, only to discover that they are RINOs (Republicans in name only) or that they are not as capable as expected. There were instances where I did not hold them in high regard," Trump stated. "However, there were others whom I respected greatly, those who believed that the election was rigged."

Smith's investigation on federal election interference is one of the four criminal cases against the former president. Trump is accused of four charges in Smith's case, which include obstructing an official proceeding and conspiring to defraud the United States.

Trump, who has pleaded not guilty in all cases, was charged in a comprehensive Georgia indictment that accuses him of leading a "criminal enterprise" aimed at overturning the 2020 election. This report includes contributions from CNN's Zachary Cohen.
