Scheana Shay and Katie Maloney's relationship is quite complex. They first met in 2013 as part of the original cast of the Bravo reality series Vanderpump Rules. Although they experienced both highs and lows in their friendship, things became more difficult when Maloney and her ex-husband Tom Schwartz ended their marriage in March 2022.
Several months following Maloney's divorce filing, Schwartz was seen kissing their co-star Raquel Leviss at Shay's wedding to Brock Davies in August 2022. Maloney, who did not attend the wedding, blamed Shay for encouraging the kiss.
The feud between Maloney and Shay appeared to settle down after news of Tom Sandoval's affair with Leviss surfaced in March 2023. Despite the drama, the pair joined forces to support Ariana Madix, who ended her nine-year relationship with Sandoval following the scandal.

The relationship between Vanderpump Rules stars Scheana Shay and Katie Maloney is quite complex. They first met in 2013 when they both joined the original cast of the Bravo reality series. Despite facing various challenges throughout their friendship, things became more difficult when Maloney and her ex-husband Tom Schwartz ended their marriage in March 2022.
Several months after Maloney initiated divorce proceedings, Schwartz was seen kissing their co-star Raquel Leviss at Shay and Brock Davies' wedding in August 2022. Although Maloney was not present at the wedding, she claimed that Shay had prompted the kiss.
The tension between Maloney and Shay appeared to ease after reports of Tom Sandoval’s infidelity with Leviss emerged in March 2023. Amidst the controversy, the couple united to show their support for Ariana Madix, who ended her nine-year relationship with Sandoval following the scandal.

2013
Drama started to unfold among the group of friends in the initial season of Pump Rules when Maloney and Schroeder became more bonded, making Shay feel excluded. The strain escalated further when Maloney believed that Shay undermined Schwartz during an interview with Lisa Vanderpump at SUR. The two women clashed during Shay's birthday celebration.

2014
During Schroeder's birthday celebration in season 2, the Pump Rules cast traveled to Mexico. While enjoying the festivities, Shay and Schwartz took the opportunity to express their worries about Maloney's drinking, sparking a heated disagreement between the couple.

2016
Two years later, Shay got into another fight with Maloney and Schroeder over an apology to Lala Kent. The three women went back and forth leaving Shay in tears.

April 2022
Weeks after Maloney and Schwartz went public with their breakup, the BlackBoxTV music producer claimed that Shay was supporting her ex-husband and helping him move on.
"She invited Schwartz and Raquel to her birthday, not me," Katie stated. "It was very obvious."

May 2022
In February 2023, Maloney revealed a collection of text messages exchanged between her and the actress, resolving their previous disagreement from the spring. In response, Shay questioned her co-star about whether she was being genuine regarding her ex dating again. Maloney responded by saying, "When in public that’s how I present."
“Why would I believe that you were lying to my face? You were talking about how much happier you are, and I’ve been happy for you,” Shay retorted. “In Vegas, you told me that you want Tom to move on because it would make things easier for you since you already had. And then you encouraged me to push him to move on.”

August 2022

February 2023
Shay openly discussed a talk she had with Maloney regarding Schwartz moving on in an episode of Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” podcast.
“Katie and I had a conversation, and she mentioned, ‘I think they would make a good couple,’ or something similar,” the “Scheananigans” podcast host remembered. “So I took that as encouragement and passed it on to Raquel, saying, ‘Katie sort of approves if you want to explore that.’ You'll see the rest unfold.”
In an episode of Pump Rules that aired a few days later, Maloney called out Shay for “meddling like a little troll.”

March 2023
Shay criticized Maloney for labeling her a "troll" and revealed to Us that she viewed it as a prime example of "projection."
In a subsequent episode of Pump Rules, a disagreement between Maloney and Shay regarding hotel accommodations for her Mexico wedding was highlighted. Shay offered to purchase Maloney's nonrefundable room after one of her bridesmaids, Jamie Lynn, encountered difficulties booking a room and Shay no longer intended to attend the wedding.
“It’s disappointing that Scheana’s bridesmaid didn’t book her own room after pressuring us to do so. But that’s not my concern,” the Utah native said to the cameras, adding that she planned to go to Mexico regardless. “I called the hotel and arranged for Kristina Kelly to share my room, and it was no trouble.”
Shay and Maloney appeared to set aside their disagreements to show support for Madix during her split with Sandoval. Both women visited the Florida native at her L.A. home after the incident and attended the Pump Rules season 10 reunion.

December 2023
A trailer for season 11 of Pump Rules made it seem unlikely that Shay and Maloney will ever be besties again.
“I've been unfaithful. I was kissing other people,” Schwartz confessed to Lala Kent in the preview. “I kissed Scheana in Vegas. No one else knows about it.”
In another part of the trailer, Maloney discovered the truth. “You never cared about my feelings,” she told Schwartz, who claimed, “It was just one kiss.”
Shay subsequently addressed the kiss in an Instagram comment. “Things that were supposed to go to the grave,” she wrote. “BUT it’s not exactly what you think … stay tuned!”
