The upcoming adaptation of Kingdom season 5 will cover the crucial Koku You Campaign arc, a significant storyline in Yasuhisa Hara's epic historical war series. This arc takes place during China's Warring States period and revolves around the ambitious general, Shin, as he strives to achieve the goals of the Qin kingdom.
This campaign is centered on the conquest of Koku You, a strategically important city at the heart of several states. Its capture would enable Qin to expand further and strengthen its hold on the region.
Following the suppression of Ai's rebellion in the previous season, Qin rallied enough soldiers to continue their campaigns. They launched a new offensive to capture the Koku You Hills, sparking war with the Zhao Army.
The focal point of Kingdom season 5 is the intense war between two armies, with the introduction of new characters adding to the excitement.

Qin appointed General Kan Ki to lead the first day of the battle, supported by his army and the Hi Shin unit led by Shin. Meanwhile, Zhao sent Kei Sha and General Ki Sui, along with their respective armies.
The battle began with Ki Sui's forces ambushing the Hi Shin unit, led by Ryuu Tou and Ba Tei, in an effort to divert their movement. In retaliation, Kan Ki deployed Zenou and his clan to counter the Zhao troops' advances.
Kyou Kai, the second lieutenant of the Hi Shin unit, plays a prominent role in this storyline. Her scouting squad stumbles upon a village in Koku You that is unaware of the ongoing war between the Qin and Zhao armies. On her way back to her unit, Kyou Kai engages in a brutal fight with Ryuu Tou, resulting in both of them being mortally wounded.
Despite her injuries, Kyou Kai's horse manages to bring her to the village, where she receives treatment. During her recovery, the village mayor shares with her the tragic story of the Tragedy of Rigan, the home of the Ki Sui army.

On the fourth day of the battle, Shin finally succeeds in killing Kei Sha, while General Kan Ki orders his army to retreat. This decision comes after he uncovers the Ki Sui army's ties to Rigan by interrogating captured Rigan soldiers. As the Qin troops pull back, the Zhao army begins to fortify the central hill.
After Kan Ki sends his troops to scout Koku You, he burns down the villages and gathers the bodies of the dead villagers in an arch to send a message to Ki Sui, threatening to do the same to Rigan. Following this, Ki Sui flees the hill to protect his home, followed by his soldiers, which leads to the downfall of the Zhao forces.
The Koku You Campaign is a pivotal arc that contributes to the overarching narrative of the series. It is certain to receive worldwide praise from fans once it gets animated in Kingdom season 5.
