Gamers are in for a treat as Ubisoft+ offers free access to their extensive library of popular franchises, including Far Cry and Assassin's Creed, to celebrate the upcoming Ubisoft Forward event. Although typically held in September, this year's event is timed closer to Summer Game Fest, adding to the excitement for fans eagerly anticipating new game announcements. Among the highly anticipated titles, Assassin's Creed Mirage has already been featured at PlayStation's Showcase, but is expected to make another appearance at Ubisoft's event, possibly with an extended gameplay preview, being the studio's biggest upcoming release.
Fans are eagerly anticipating updates on Ubisoft's upcoming games, including Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and the untitled Star Wars game. These highly anticipated releases are not part of Ubisoft's core franchises, which include Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy. However, Ubisoft is offering fans a chance to try out some of their favorite franchises with a free trial of their subscription service, Ubisoft+.
Ubisoft+ offers access to all major Assassin's Creed titles, the entire Far Cry franchise, the Watch Dogs trilogy, and many more Ubisoft games. Even the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed Mirage will be available on the subscription service on day one. Additionally, fans who want to catch up on the story of protagonist Basim Ibn Ishaq before Mirage's release can do so with a trial and check out his debut in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. The trial lasts for seven days and is available until June 21, so fans should act quickly to take advantage of this offer.
It is not uncommon for major game publishers to offer deals and subscription trials during their major showcase events. However, some speculate that Ubisoft may be using this trial as an opportunity for players to gain access to a surprise release after the Ubisoft Forward event. The concept of a game being released on the same day it is revealed at a showcase, known as a "shadow drop," has gained popularity since the release of Xbox's Hi-Fi Rush in January. While it is possible that a shadow drop could occur at Ubisoft Forward, it is more likely to be for a smaller franchise like Trials or Rayman, as Trials of the Blood Dragon was shadow dropped in 2016. In the meantime, fans can take advantage of the free week of Ubisoft+ leading up to Forward.
