Kojima's forthcoming Xbox exclusive, currently lacking an official title, is expected to offer a distinctive experience fueled by Microsoft's cloud gaming technology, generating considerable enthusiasm among enthusiasts. Speculations indicate that the exclusive game for Xbox might be a horror game named "Overdose," which could potentially enable Kojima to finally create a fully-fledged horror game akin to his previous endeavor, Silent Hills.
Hideo Kojima, the creator of Kojima Productions, has announced on social media that his studio recently received a visit from Microsoft's marketing team. This visit indicates that the period of silence regarding Kojima's collaboration with Xbox may soon come to an end, which is sure to be thrilling news for Xbox fans.
While the title of Kojima's first-ever Xbox exclusive has not been officially announced since it was confirmed in June 2022, there is still a great deal of anticipation surrounding the project. This is partly due to the fact that Kojima's forthcoming Xbox game promises to offer a distinctive experience utilizing Microsoft's cloud gaming technology.
Despite the mysterious title not being expected for release anytime soon, Microsoft's recent visit to Kojima Productions has ignited hope within the fan community that more information about the game could be revealed in the near future. The team of eight people paid a visit to Kojima Productions' newly renovated studio in Minato City, Tokyo, which reopened its doors in late 2022. Kojima himself took to Twitter on July 31 to share a photo of the visitors, prompting enthusiastic responses from fans eagerly anticipating further details about the collaboration with Xbox.
This visit was not the first time that Microsoft's employees had visited Kojima Productions' headquarters. Aaron Greenberg, VP of Xbox Games Marketing, had already led a previous visit in early March, referring to it as the beginning of an "exciting journey" that would bring together Kojima Productions and Microsoft's marketing, production, engineering, and cloud teams.
No official news about the project has been released since its confirmation. However, a late 2022 report suggests that Kojima's upcoming Xbox exclusive may be a horror game called Overdose. The report also states that American actress Margaret Qualley will be part of the game's cast. Qualley is best known for her work on The Nice Guys and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and she previously collaborated with Kojima on Death Stranding, where she played twin sisters Mama and Lockne.
This rumor implies that Microsoft will give Kojima the opportunity to create a full-fledged horror game, something he had previously attempted with Silent Hills before it was cancelled by Konami in 2015. In addition to this new Xbox exclusive, Kojima Productions is currently working on Death Stranding 2 and a Death Stranding movie.
