A well-known source has revealed the anticipated release date for the Separate Ways DLC in Resident Evil 4, along with providing new details about the highly speculated expansion. While Capcom has yet to officially confirm the inclusion of the beloved fan-favorite story mode in their critically acclaimed remake, recent data mining of Resident Evil 4 files suggests its return.
In the process of remaking Resident Evil 4, Capcom made some changes to the original 2005 version, but they made it clear that not all of these alterations would be permanent. To demonstrate this, they released the Mercenaries mode as a free DLC just two weeks after the game's launch on April 7. This move gave fans hope that the Separate Ways content would follow suit.
According to well-known leaker Dusk Golem, the company has remained silent about any additional post-launch content for its popular game. However, this silence will not last for long. Dusk Golem took to Twitter on June 16th to predict that the Resident Evil 4 remake will unveil the Separate Ways DLC before the end of the year. Based on Capcom's previous track record with post-launch content, it is expected that the DLC could potentially be released as early as 2024. Historically, the Japanese company has revealed Resident Evil expansions within a few months or even weeks after the game's market debut.
Separate Ways, the campaign featuring Ada Wong, was a well-received addition to the original game's PS2 port. This was largely due to the fact that it introduced a significant amount of content to Resident Evil 4. In line with this, Dusk Golem mentioned that the remake's version of Separate Ways will offer substantial content for a DLC.
It is uncertain if the addition of a Separate Ways announcement to Resident Evil 4 will be the final DLC for the remake, despite the growing evidence suggesting so. In the original 2005 version, there was a bonus mode called Assignment: Ada, which was shorter in length and could potentially be easier to remake. However, since Assignment: Ada is a non-canon experience and not highly desired by the fandom for future DLC, it remains questionable whether Capcom will invest the effort in reimagining it. Currently, there is no indication that Assignment: Ada is included in the roadmap for the Resident Evil 4 remake.
Resident Evil 4 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
