Jeff Grubb, a renowned games insider, recently updated fans on the anticipated release date for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. While the Dragon Age community remains patient and supportive of the development team's desire to deliver an exceptional gaming experience, they are still eagerly seeking any information they can get their hands on.
Unfortunately, the road to completing Dragon Age: Dreadwolf has been a bumpy one. BioWare has experienced a high rate of turnover within their development team, including the departure of some notable veterans. Furthermore, the project was completely restarted after the initial concept was scrapped. In March, Mark Darrah returned to work on the game as a consultant after leaving his position as executive producer and project director in 2020. To help complete the game, BioWare even enlisted the help of some of the Mass Effect 4 developer team. Fans have been given small glimpses of what they can expect in terms of scale and the game's visual world, through concept art and a preview of the class and skill tree system. However, there has been a lack of official communication from BioWare since then, leaving fans eager for more updates.
After an eager fan reached out to Jeff Grubb on Twitter, asking for clarification on whether Dragon Age: Dreadwolf would be announced this summer, Grubb was initially tight-lipped, stating that he was not expecting the game to be released this summer. This led to a conversation between two fans who questioned the reliability of Grubb's information. Eventually, one of them speculated that the game may be targeting a release for summer 2024. Grubb responded, confirming that this was indeed the case.
Despite BioWare's all-hands-on-deck approach, delays are always a possibility, and Grubb typically urges caution when interpreting his comments. Nevertheless, fans now have a more concrete timeframe to anticipate. Grubb also clarified that his earlier statement about Dragon Age: Dreadwolf releasing in the fall of 2023 was always "at the earliest." While some fans remain wary of getting their hopes up, others have expressed relief at the news.
Fans have already had the opportunity to read Dragon Age: Missing, a comic series that serves as the direct prequel to Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. However, enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the start of the promotion for the game. Although it is uncertain whether a trailer featuring gameplay footage will be released in the upcoming months to keep fans content, BioWare must take action to pacify the mounting frustration among gamers. As of now, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is still in development.
