An insider from Atlus recently took to social media to reveal the company's plans for announcing Persona 6, along with other exciting details about the highly anticipated game. This unofficial information about the upcoming JRPG came just one week after the same individual shared unfortunate news for Nintendo fans.
On July 13, it will be two years since Atlus confirmed the development of Persona 6. Despite the studio not providing any new updates about the project during this time, various insider reports have emerged regarding the game. Among these leaks, Twitter user MbKKssTBhz5, also known as Midori, has been particularly active in sharing information about Atlus and their upcoming releases.
Midori has again taken to social media to reveal more information about Persona 6 in a series of tweets on June 30. Among other details, the insider stated that the upcoming installment in the popular franchise will have a significantly different presentation compared to its predecessors. Midori further explained that Persona 6 is primarily being developed by a new team within Atlus, implying that the studio restructured its development process a few years ago. The recently announced projects, Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Tactica, are said to be the first two endeavors after this restructuring.
Although Persona 6 is still a ways away from its release, Midori claims that Atlus had initially planned to announce it "a long time ago." The reason behind this alleged change of plans is unclear, but the insider reveals that the developer is now intending to unveil Persona 6 in 2024. According to the source, the game will be revealed alongside another Persona spinoff, internally named "Asa." In terms of codenames, Atlus apparently has multiple designations for Persona 6, with "Carbon" being one of the most recent ones.
Regarding target platforms, Midori mentioned that the only confirmed platform for Persona 6 is the PlayStation 5. Previous games in the series have been exclusive to PlayStation for a significant period, but the fact that the upcoming Persona 3 remake and Persona 5 Tactica are being released on multiple platforms gives some hope that Persona 6 will follow suit.
The claim that Persona 6 will be revealed next year aligns with various insider reports about the highly anticipated RPG. While this suggests a possible late 2024 release, as indicated by a recent report, Midori is not as certain about the timeframe. This is primarily because they anticipate Atlus first releasing Metaphor. It is worth mentioning that Metaphor does not have a specific release date yet, but the developer has mentioned that it is aiming for a 2024 launch.
Persona 6 is in development.
