Marvel Studios has set a release date for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 on Disney+. After its theatrical premiere on May 5, the film will be available for streaming on the platform starting on August 2, 2023. This marks the end of James Gunn's time with Marvel Studios, as he has now shifted his focus to DC Studios. Additionally, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will also be released on Blu-ray and DVD on August 1. To celebrate the announcement, a brief TV spot showcasing standout moments from the film and the team's past exploits was released.
What Is Next For Guardians Of The Galaxy In The MCU?
Marvel Studios has not yet announced a sequel for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, despite its critical and financial success. While the door is open for another filmmaker to continue where Gunn left off, any potential sequel would likely signify the beginning of a new story rather than Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4.
The real question lies in the teaser for "The Legendary Star-Lord will return" in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It wouldn't be surprising if Marvel Studios focuses on a solo project featuring Chris Pratt's Star-Lord before reintroducing the full Guardians of the Galaxy team. However, given Marvel Studios' pattern, it is probable that the team will ultimately come back for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and/or Avengers: Secret Wars, concluding The Multiverse Saga.
Although a sequel may not be in the immediate plan, Marvel Studios has various opportunities to utilize the team. Guardians members may make appearances in any cosmic adventure within the MCU, such as The Marvels or a Nova project. In the meantime, fans can eagerly anticipate Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3., slated for release in August, and enjoy the entire trilogy while patiently awaiting their next MCU story.
