After the prankster police officers made their comeback five years ago, Brian Cox has opened up about the possibility of a Super Troopers 3. The Super Troopers movies, created by the comedy troupe Broken Lizard, center around a mischievous group of Vermont Highway Patrol officers who frequently find themselves in trouble because of their comedic pranks. With two movies released over a span of 17 years, the franchise has received mixed reviews from critics, but has gained a dedicated fan base and achieved moderate success at the box office.

During an exclusive interview with Screen Rant for his latest project Prisoner's Daughter, Brian Cox was asked about the likelihood of a Super Troopers 3. Although he did not reveal whether he has been approached yet, the actor expressed his interest in returning for a third film, but only if they avoid filming at night and if he can pitch a new scene involving his character and Lynda Carter. Check out what Cox had to say below:

Oh yes, I'd certainly agree to it, provided that there are no night shoots involved. Night shoots are absolutely out of the question for me. The previous time they insisted I participate in a night shoot, I was extremely furious with them for making me do it. It was completely pointless since anyone could have easily replaced me, just running around and making "Bang! Bang!" noises. No, I won't do night shoots. Instead, I have this envisioned scenario where Lynda Carter and I would finally film in Vermont during winter. We would be situated on top of a hill, together with our camp and a small canteen of coffee. At any given moment, they could film us with a white backdrop due to the snow. The crew can carry on with their work while we enjoy the experience. [Laughs]

Will A Super Troopers 3 Happen?

Director Jay Chandrasekhar has hinted at the possibility of a Super Troopers 3 multiple times following the release of the first sequel. He even revealed the proposed title to be Winter Soldiers and mentioned that they started working on the script in 2018. Updates on the potential threequel have been provided over the past year, including Chandrasekhar's statement in April that they were on their tenth draft. Co-writer/star Erik Stolhanske has also expressed their determination to "finish the trilogy."

The group's enthusiasm for making the movie is apparent, but the question now arises about the likelihood of Super Troopers 3 becoming a reality. Despite years of effort and a combination of studio resources and crowdfunding, Super Troopers 2 had disappointing box office numbers, earning $31.6 million, surpassing the original but with a much higher production budget of $13.5 million.

Considering Disney's current financial restructuring and the removal of projects from Hulu, particularly those produced by Searchlight Pictures who were involved in the first two movies and their most recent Quasi, Broken Lizard may face challenges in convincing studio executives to greenlight Super Troopers 3. However, given their determination to create the first sequel over the span of nearly 20 years, they may once again emerge as victorious underdogs in the future.
