Editors Note: Look of the Week is a recurring series that delves into the most buzzworthy outfit of the past week, showcasing a range from the good to the bad and the ugly.

During his portrayal of the outspoken media mogul Logan Roy in HBO's "Succession" for five years, Brian Cox was predominantly seen on-screen wearing a navy business suit and a burgundy tie. However, since the conclusion of the show in May 2023, the 77-year-old Scottish actor, along with his stylist Venk Modur, has been embracing a more adventurous and unconventional fashion sense. (HBO and CNN are both part of the Warner Bros. Discovery parent company.)

Cox is fully embracing his "retirement" (at least as the Waystar Royco CEO) by donning vibrant, extravagant chintz-printed jackets from independent designer Jasmine Chongo. His latest ensemble, showcased on the Jimmy Fallon show last Tuesday, featured a captivating pair of faux leather pants that exude both style and comfort.

Styled by Budapest-based label Nanushka, his trousers had a brilliant shine, complemented by a navy pinstripe shirt and a preppy pair of tricolor horsebit loafers from the renowned streetwear brand Kith. However, the camel-colored bottoms were more flattering when Cox stood, as they unfortunately appeared flesh-like when he was seated. If Cox's youngest fictional son saw the trousers, he would most likely comment with Roman Roy's famous line: "If I cringe any harder I might become a fossil."

The vision behind his outfit was not easily understood by many. One user, identified as "X," wrote, "This gentleman has unquestionably lost his mind." Another person expressed their desire for the app to stop displaying images of Brian Cox in those leather trousers and loafers.

Modur wrote on his Instagram that Cox is always striving to be the best. Cox is not the first man to sport tight leather-look ankle grazers. In the 1980s, Freddie Mercury made high-waisted leather breeches (in black and red) his unofficial performance attire. Other icons, including David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Jim Morrison, and even Elvis Presley, have also rocked these pants. Joe Jonas has recently received accolades for his collection of leather pants in red, brown, black, and silver on the Jonas Brothers tour.

Today, menswear embraces fewer restrictions than ever before. In the past, omitting a tie was seen as almost negligent. Fashion historian Anne Hollander expressed her shock in 2000 when she witnessed the chairman and chief executive of General Electric, a revered corporation in America, wearing open-neck button-downs at a press conference. However, fast forward two decades and we now witness our beloved faux-CEO confidently showcasing his bare calves, along with other daring fashion choices like leather trousers, on national television. Fashion truly is an unpredictable force.
