A renowned leaker who goes by the name Midori, or MbKKssTBhz5 on Twitter, has provided further details about Atlus' current plans. These plans may include remakes of the first two games in the Persona series. Midori, who has been sharing information with fans in recent months, has proved to be a reliable source of insight into the Japanese developer's ongoing projects. She had previously confirmed the existence of Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Tactica before their official debut at the Xbox Games Show. In addition, she had also shared information about Persona 6. Midori has now stepped forward to clarify and elaborate on some of her previous statements.
One of the questions asked was about the potential remakes that Atlus is currently working on. It is mentioned that Atlus and Sega are indeed exploring the idea of remaking some of their various franchises. However, apart from the confirmed Persona 3 Reload remake scheduled for 2024, there are no other remakes of the same magnitude in development at this time. It is stated that Atlus is interested in creating remakes for Persona 1 and 2, but it is uncertain if they are currently being worked on. Midori does share that there will be a game next year called "Persona Asa" that will feature characters from the first two games, as she previously mentioned.
Midori acknowledges that Atlus' plans frequently change due to various factors, but there is a possibility of more spin-off games incorporating the previous Persona titles. The reason behind this is that Atlus intends to create these spin-offs after the release of Persona 6, as it will provide an opportunity to expand on the sixth game and also serve as a reason to revisit the older titles. This information aligns with her earlier leak about Persona 6, suggesting that each project will contribute towards the game's eventual release, potentially in 2026.
Fans strongly believe that there is an urgent need for a modern remake of the original Persona and Persona 2 duology. Both games are not only difficult to find, but one of the re-releases of the duology was never made available outside of Japan. These games have remained obscure, with only dedicated Persona fans recognizing their significance. Considering that Atlus is currently developing a game that will incorporate these early characters, it would be advantageous to also have remakes of their original games.
