However, its progress has been impeded by ongoing delays and technical issues. The team expresses gratitude to fans for their support and valuable feedback.
Ubisoft has announced that its upcoming shooter game XDefiant is facing an indefinite delay due to issues discovered during testing. Originally set for a Summer 2023 release, the game has experienced multiple setbacks. Despite generating enthusiasm among fans who have had the opportunity to test the game in beta sessions, comparing it to a Ubisoft-centric classic Call Of Duty arena shooter, XDefiant has encountered delays and complications. Mark Rubin, a former Call of Duty developer, is directing and producing the game, which brings together various Tom Clancy franchises in a fast-paced online shooter. Unfortunately, the latest update on XDefiant is likely to disappoint fans even further, coinciding with Activision's launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
The XDefiant development team has acknowledged that inconsistencies have been identified in the overall experience during the latest session on the Public Test Server. These issues need to be addressed before the game can be launched. While specific details were not provided, it was announced that the release of XDefiant will be indefinitely delayed. Updates regarding the game's progress will be shared closer to the launch date. The team expresses gratitude to fans for their continuous support and helpful feedback, which has greatly contributed to improving the overall experience.
Mark Rubin, mentioned earlier, also provided additional information on the matter. He expressed gratitude towards those who assisted in testing XDefiant and offering valuable feedback. After analyzing the data, Rubin admitted that a few issues have been identified that will require extra time to fix before a global launch can take place. One example he mentioned was that some testers felt the movement and sliding mechanics were off, even though no changes had been made. Further investigation revealed that frame spikes were interrupting the sliding mechanic, a problem that the team likely would not have discovered without the feedback from fans.
Most fans agree that it is best to delay the game further, not just for additional improvements. Rumors were circulating that XDefiant would be released alongside Season 6 of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and its planned seasonal events like The Haunting. However, the launch of Modern Warfare 3 a few weeks later further complicates the release window for another competitive arena shooter. XDefiant will be available soon on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
