Enchanting Poster Unveils Kathryn Newton and Cole Sprouse's Twilight Love Story

Horror comedies are extremely popular nowadays, and it seems like the ghoulish sub-genre is here to stay. One upcoming film, Lisa Frankenstein, is a fresh take on Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and is set to scare audiences when it hits theaters this February. Directed by Zelda Williams and starring Kathryn Newton and Cole Sprouse, the film recently released its first teaser. Now, the film's first poster gives horror fans a tantalizing glimpse of the dark and colorful romance that lies ahead.

The poster showcases Lisa Frankenstein and her creation, their silhouettes highlighted against a neon pink moon, as they longingly gaze at each other in a graveyard. In a nod to Lisa's namesake, she is depicted holding an axe. The poster's use of deep black shades pays homage to the classic Universal Monster films from the 1930s and 1940s, which established the gothic aesthetic that has defined the genre for years. However, the striking contrast between the neon-bright moon and the film's logo clearly signals to the audience that this is not your typical Frankenstein retelling. The aesthetic exudes the unique style of writer Diablo Cody, known for her work on the 2000s horror film Jennifer's Body.

Lisa Frankenstein tells the story of a misunderstood teenager and her high school crush, who happens to be a handsome corpse. While there have been numerous adaptations of Frankenstein over the years, this film takes a unique approach by exploring the love between the Frankenstein archetype and their creation. This premise raises thought-provoking questions for the audience, while also allowing for plenty of comedic moments. Director Newton, known for her impressive work in the horror comedy genre with films like Freaky and the underrated Paranormal Activity 4, brings her expertise back to the horror genre with a fantastic partner on screen. Sprouse, fresh from his successful run on the popular CW series Riverdale, which incorporated elements of horror, adds to the excitement of this project.
