With a remarkable comeback, Murray secured a 6-7 (7-9) 6-4 6-4 victory over Leandro Riedi, granting Great Britain a 1-0 lead in the tie against Switzerland. Following this triumph, the doubles pairing of Dan Evans and Neal Skupsi sealed their own victory, culminating in a triumphant 2-1 overall win for the Britons.
According to the BBC, Murray shared that he had a conversation with his father regarding the matter in which his father expressed his desire for Murray to participate and urged him to secure a victory. Consequently, Murray stated that he adhered to his father's advice and emerged victorious, concluding the match with an ace. This marked Murray's 33rd triumph in Davis Cup singles, a championship he previously obtained alongside the Great Britain team in 2015.
