Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch has captivated fans, leading them to petition Marvel Studios for a standalone movie following her short appearance in Season 2 of What If...? Marvel is gearing up for an impactful end to 2023, with the release of the highly anticipated second season of their animated series What If...? unfolding over nine consecutive days.
The show explores an alternate timeline of iconic Marvel Cinematic Universe events, both past and potential future. In the fifth episode, "What If... Captain Carter Fought the Hydra Stomper?", fans were excited to see Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch make a return to the screen. This has led to a clamor from fans for Marvel Studios to consider creating a solo movie for Elizabeth Olsen, despite her brief appearance.
Marvels fans want Olsen on the big screen after brief cameo
The third episode of "What If...?" features Olsen’s Scarlet Witch making an appearance, as Peggy Carter/Captain Carter faces off against her former flame Steve Rogers, now in control of the formidable Hydra Stomper armor.
In the episode's conclusion, Captain Carter and Natasha Romanoff encounter The Watcher, the all-seeing eye of the series, who is caught off guard when Wanda opens a portal to a different universe and takes Captain Carter. As she arrives, Captain Carter is greeted by Nick Fury, who asks if she can save their queen, to which the Scarlet Witch replies, "More than that, she can save our world."

Even though Olsen only uttered one sentence in the series, fans immediately latched onto it and started calling for Marvel Studios to approve a standalone Scarlet Witch movie, a request they've had since the debut of WandaVision in 2021. Onscreen for just half a second and already trending, fans are demanding the green light for her solo film.

Wanda variants are now creating multiversal portals, but the original 616 Wanda was punished for attempting the same. Kevin Feige, when I catch you!
@WandasAttorney tweeted on December 26, 2023. Fans last saw Olsen as the Scarlet Witch in 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where she portrayed the film's main antagonist, absorbing all the magic in an attempt to reunite with her children in another universe.
In the film's conclusion, Wanda is crushed under a pile of rubble, leading to a widespread outcry for her return to the MCU. As Marvel Studios expands their Multiverse Saga and introduces new characters in Phase 5 and Phase 6, fans are eager for Olsen to reprise her role as the morally complex and powerful witch, possibly in a standalone film.

As a passionate fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I am thrilled to see the overwhelming demand for a Scarlet Witch solo film following Elizabeth Olsen's electrifying cameo in What If? Season 2. Olsen's portrayal of Wanda Maximoff has captivated audiences, and her brief appearance in the animated series has only intensified our desire to see her take center stage in her own standalone movie.
The Scarlet Witch is a complex and powerful character with a rich backstory and untapped potential. Her journey from a traumatized Sokovian orphan to a powerful reality-warping being is filled with emotional depth and moral ambiguity, making her a compelling protagonist for a solo film. Olsen's nuanced performance has brought Wanda to life, showcasing her strength, vulnerability, and inner turmoil. A standalone movie would allow for a deeper exploration of her character, her motivations, and her place in the ever-expanding MCU.
