Marvel

In Devil’s Reign, the main idea is that Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin, wields his authority as the recently elected Mayor of New York City to prohibit all superheroes. This aligns with the mid-credits scene in the finale of Echo, where Fisk hints at his intention to campaign for the highest position in the city.

Marvel Studios appears to be preparing for multiple Devil's Reign-inspired MCU projects, with persistent reports suggesting that Echo's follow-up, Daredevil: Born Again, will center around Fisk's mayoral campaign. Additionally, there is anticipation for Kingpin to confront Spider-Man in a manner reminiscent of Devil's Reign. The adaptation is likely to focus primarily on the MCU's street-level characters, including Daredevil, Echo, and the Punisher, while also potentially involving other more flamboyant figures such as Spider-Man.

What else happens in the Devil’s Reign crossover event?

However, it is important to mention that Marvel Studios has not officially confirmed the happening of a Devil’s Reign adaptation, so it is best to take this speculation with a grain of salt for now.

The Kingpin's establishment in city hall is just one of the major developments in Devil's Reign. The crossover also includes several other significant events that appear to connect to the upcoming MCU Phases Five and Six.

One example is Kingpin's reliance on the Thunderbolts to enforce his superhero ban. The MCU's version of this antihero team is set to debut in 2025, suggesting that they may play a role in a Devil's Reign-like storyline.

Could this be the opportunity for Krysten Ritter to reprise her role as Jessica Jones in future MCU productions, considering her involvement with Purple Man in Devil’s Reign? Additionally, with the introduction of alternate universe versions of Doctor Octopus in the film, there is potential for more variations of this villain to appear in future live-action projects. This is further supported by Spider-Man: No Way Home's inclusion of a Doc Ock from outside the core MCU.

Echo Episodes 1-5 are now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu. Check out more of Dexerto’s coverage of the MCU series below:

Editor's P/S

As a hard fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), I am thrilled about the hints of a game-changing Daredevil narrative in the Echo finale. The mid-credits scene teases the adaptation of the significant Daredevil storyline, Devil's Reign, which has the potential to redefine the MCU's future. The idea of Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, wielding his authority as the elected Mayor of New York City to prohibit all superheroes is both intriguing and unsettling. It sets the stage for a conflict that will challenge the very foundation of heroism and villainy in the MCU.

Furthermore, the potential involvement of other street-level characters like Echo, the Punisher, and even Spider-Man adds to the excitement. The possibility of seeing these characters come together to face a common threat is something that fans have been eagerly anticipating. The MCU has done an excellent job of building up these characters and their relationships, and a Devil's Reign-inspired storyline could provide the perfect opportunity to showcase their dynamics and explore their individual journeys.
