Daredevil: Born Again Faces More Challenges in the Wake of Writers' Strike

Daredevil: Born Again production halted again due to writers' strike Fans eagerly await updates on the delay's duration and the fate of the beloved superhero series

The WGA writers' strike has impacted the production of the highly anticipated Disney Plus series, Daredevil: Born Again. This 18-episode revival of the beloved Netflix show, which was canceled in 2018, follows the story of Matthew Murdock, also known as Daredevil, portrayed by Charlie Cox. Unfortunately, the strike has caused a halt in production, with the writers and producers unable to provide their services due to the dispute between the studios and the union. The strike has also caused picketing outside of the Silvercup East Studios in New York, resulting in the suspension of production for an entire week as members of various unions refuse to cross the picket line.

Production for Daredevil: Born Again was halted again on June 12 due to ongoing picketing outside of Silvercup East, as reported by Deadline. The WGA strikers have been frequently picketing that location, resulting in the Disney Plus series having to pause production twice in the first 3 months of its 8-month shoot. Currently, the production is shut down for the day, but it remains uncertain whether the picketing will cause further delays.

The strike by the WGA has persisted for almost six weeks, and the studios are yet to come to an agreement with the writers. In 2008, the writers' strike lasted for over 100 days and had a significant impact on several shows and movies. Presently, the strike has already affected the production of many popular TV shows and movies, such as SNL, Stranger Things, Family Guy, and Tom Holland's Spider-Man 4. However, the studios do not seem to be feeling the pressure yet since they have enough content to keep them going. Therefore, the WGA needs to continue picketing for a while before they can reach a deal with the studios.

The forthcoming series will feature Charlie Cox as Daredevil, and also Vincent D'Onofrio as Kingpin, and Jon Bernthal as The Punisher. The show has already announced some of its cast members, including Margarita Levieva, Sandrine Holt, Michael Gandolfini, Arty Froushan, and Nikki M. James.

Daredevil: Born Again is currently scheduled to be released on Disney Plus in early 2024.
