Dua Lipa has a new song called “Illusion,” and it's not just a trick of the eye.

The 28-year-old singer released her latest single on April 11, along with a music video shot at the Piscina Municipal de Montjuïc in Barcelona, Spain. In the video, Lipa crashes a workout session, strutting confidently to the high dive in a black leotard and tights. As she floats in the pool, her backup dancers join her, ditching their workout gear for swimsuits and performing a synchronized dance routine.

In Lipa's upcoming album Radical Optimism, there is a song that talks about recognizing warning signs in a partner before committing. She begins by singing, "I have overlooked warning signs in the past. I have placed my partner on a pedestal. However, these things do not last forever, and it is time for me to see things clearly."

In the chorus, Lipa sings, "What are you doing? You are not fooling anyone. I find it amusing that you think I will be deceived by your tricks."

This new song marks the first collaboration between Lipa, Caroline Ailin, Danny Harle, Tobias Jesso Jr., and Kevin Parker from Tame Impala. Lipa mentioned in a press release that writing this song was a crucial step in shaping her new sound for the upcoming record.

She adds that "Illusion" is all about being aware of the situation but choosing to stay for the thrill of it. Playing along with someone's deception can be entertaining, but in the end, you won't be fooled by false appearances.

Her third studio album, Radical Optimism, is set to be released on May 3. Dua Lipa will be moving away from her neo-disco style and embracing a more modern pop sound. In an interview with Billboard in March, Lipa expressed her excitement for the album, stating that she feels "good" about it. She described the overall vibe of the album as "radically optimistic."

She also shared the inspiration behind the album's artwork, featuring her swimming in the ocean with a shark fin approaching. Lipa explained, "Throughout the entire album, there's a theme of chaos surrounding me as I strive to navigate through it in a way that stays true to myself."

Lipa mentioned that her upcoming album will have a different sound compared to her previous work. Collaborator Mark Ronson, who worked on "Dance the Night Away" with Lipa, praised the album after hearing some tracks from Radical Optimism. He expressed, "It's amazing. I believe that's why there's a disco ball shattering in the 'Dance The Night' video, right? It's like her bold statement on that chapter of her music as she moves forward."
