The departure of Tyler Stanaland from the Oppenheim Group left Selling the OC star Alex Hall "surprised," just like Us.
Alex, 35, expressed her shock to The Messenger on Saturday, October 14, stating that she had not communicated with Tyler and that she is equally surprised by the news, just like everyone else. Tyler, 34, recently confirmed to We that he would be departing from the Oppenheim Group, the brokerage owned by Jason and Brett Oppenheim, in order to advance his real estate career at his father's firm.
"I am thrilled to be joining my father and brother at Douglas Elliman. The opportunity to align myself with a brand that has unmatched market reach and a renowned network of agents and industry leaders is truly exciting. This new chapter allows me to work alongside my family once again," Tyler expressed in a statement. Tyler’s father, John Stanaland, was the owner of the John Stanaland Group, which was acquired by Douglas Elliman Realty in January.
Tyler was showcased in the initial two seasons of Selling the OC on Netflix, thanks to his employment with the Oppenheim Group. Although the repercussions of his departure from the brokerage on any upcoming seasons of the reality show remain uncertain, he will be seen in season 3 as the filming of seasons 2 and 3 occurred consecutively.Samir Hussein/Getty Images
Alex and Tyler ignited speculation about a possible romance after Alex's public divorce from Brittany Snow. While appearing on Selling the OC season 2, they consistently asserted that they were only friends. However, in the finale of the second season, they surprised viewers with a passionate kiss in a hot tub.
When asked about their relationship, Tyler confessed in an exclusive interview with We in September, "I believe we are still figuring out the boundaries of our friendship. Season 2 explores some interesting dynamics between us, resulting in a heated moment. As of now, we remain very close friends, but I don't have an answer regarding our current status."
According to Alex, there are "no strings attached" between her and Tyler. She expressed her fear of adding another element to their relationship, mentioning that certain situations can be awkward and unavoidable. Currently, they are navigating through these challenges.
Later in that month, Alex was seen openly displaying affection with an unidentified man during her time in Los Angeles, as verified by photos obtained by Entertainment Tonight on September 26.
Initially, Alex mentioned to Us that fans would need to continue watching season 3 to learn more specifics about her connection with Tyler. However, she is now hinting at a substantial increase in overall drama to be unfolded.
“There has been a significant increase in drama,” she informed The Messenger during their conversation on Saturday. "To be honest, the male cast members have become much more engaged in the dramatic events this year. We also have a male cast down in Orange County, which introduces a slightly different flavor of drama."
