Vegito was the result of the first ever fusion between Vegeta and Goku using the Potara Earrings. This fusion combined their strengths into a single being known as 'the perfect warrior'.

From the moment Vegito was born, he effortlessly toyed with Buu throughout their fight, even in his base form. Once he transformed into a Super Saiyan, the power difference became so immense that Buu began to experience genuine fear. Unable to handle such an incredible gap in power, Buu resorted to running away and throwing tantrums. Despite this, Buu managed to turn Vegito into chocolate and eat him, abruptly ending their battle as the fusion wore off inside his stomach. Whether Vegito had planned this outcome or not remains unclear, however, it allowed Goku and Vegeta to save everyone else.

In the Goku Black/Zamasu arc of Dragon Ball Super, Vegito made his next appearance. Despite the heroes' efforts, their attacks seemed futile against the formidable villain. In desperation, Goku and Vegeta opted to merge into Vegito Blue. With this divine transformation, Vegito inflicted severe damage upon Zamasu. However, the fusion eventually dissipated due to the immense amount of energy it consumed.

The Fusion Reborn film revealed a captivating scene where Vegeta and Goku united again, this time utilizing the Fusion Dance to combine their powers and become the formidable warrior known as Gogeta. Despite the initial defeat and overwhelming strength of Super Janemba, it became evident that Super Saiyan 3 Goku alone was incapable of overcoming the adversary. As a result, Goku and Vegeta were compelled to fuse once more, provoking a transformation that reverberated across multiple dimensions.

Although Goku initially held his own against Janemba's first form, he proved powerless against Super Janemba, an adversary with the ability to teleport, open portals, and unleash highly formidable Ki blasts. However, Gogeta's appearance is rather brief, spanning only the last 10 minutes of the film, during which he effortlessly vanquishes Janemba with a few precise strikes. Upon entering the scene, he launches his ultimate attack known as the Stardust Breaker, obliterating all traces of negative energy and successfully defeating Janemba.

Gogeta made his next appearance in the 2018 film Dragon Ball Super: Broly, where the character was introduced and displayed powers surpassing both Goku and Vegeta. In this movie, Gogeta has a significant increase in screen time and effortlessly defeats Broly once he transforms into Super Saiyan Blue, requiring minimal effort.

Unlike his Potara Earring counterpart, Gogeta in both movies adopts a more serious demeanor, eager to engage in battles and swiftly defeat his opponents without delay. Similar to Vegito, Gogeta is a completely new character who combines the personalities of Goku and Vegeta. However, this fusion heavily reflects Goku's traits, as evident by Gogeta's seriousness and compassion. So Who Wins?

In a battle between two Saiyans, the expected outcome may not be what you think. Until 2018, Gogeta was not even recognized as a canon character, as the Dragon Ball Z movies were considered to exist in a separate canon. At that time, we only understood that the fusion dance required the stronger participant to lower their power level to match the other's, as Goku explained to Trunks and Goten.

This led many people to believe that the Potara Fusion was the stronger option overall. However, Dragon Ball Super changed this perception. Similar to the Rival Boost, the Fusion Dance also combines the power of both participants and adds an additional percentage of power, as Gogeta explains when entering the battlefield. This suggests that the Fusion Dance may have also been quietly retconned, placing Gogeta and Vegito on equal footing.

The only difference lies in the time limit of each Fusion. In the Majin Buu Saga, it was believed that the Potara Fusion was permanent until it was disrupted by Buu consuming Chocolate Vegito. However, in the Goku Black arc, it was disclosed that the transformation remains permanent for Kai's but lasts merely 1 hour for mortals. Despite Vegito's immense power, the Fusion disintegrated before the hour elapsed.
