DNC lodges campaign finance violation complaints against pro-RFK Jr. super PAC

The Democratic National Committee has filed complaints regarding campaign finance violations against the super PAC supporting Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s presidential campaign. This development marks a heightened effort by Democrats to undermine Kennedy's unaffiliated run for the White House.

The super PAC supporting Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s presidential campaign is facing new allegations of campaign finance violations. The Democratic National Committee accused American Values 2024 of not properly disclosing $10 million in loans and $9.65 million in loan repayments from a major Kennedy donor, Gavin de Becker, a private security executive.

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) recently filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC), accusing the super PAC American Values 2024 of illegally coordinating with the Kennedy campaign. The complaint was in relation to the efforts made by American Values 2024 to gather signatures to get Kennedy on the ballot in certain states. Last week, the super PAC declared that they had successfully collected enough signatures to secure Kennedy's spot on the November ballot in Arizona and Georgia.

In response to the FEC complaint, DNC senior adviser Mary Beth Cahill criticized American Values 2024 for their actions, stating that this was another instance of the super PAC disregarding election laws. Cahill pointed out that it seems like American Values 2024, along with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his campaign, believe that they are above the rules.

CNN has reached out to American Values 2024, de Becker and the Kennedy campaign for comment.

The DNC has been emphasizing Kennedy's connections to donors who have backed Republicans in the past. Specifically, they have been pointing to GOP megadonor Timothy Mellon's support for Kennedy and his previous donations to former President Donald Trump. Democrats have even put up billboards at Kennedy's campaign events to promote Mellon's endorsement of Kennedy.

It is worth noting that De Becker has shown support for candidates from both the Republican and Democratic parties in previous elections.

De Becker's company not only donated to support Kennedy but also provided security for him during his presidential run.

Kennedy first tried to challenge President Joe Biden in the Democratic primary last year. However, when his attempts did not gain much support from the party's primary voters, he decided to end his campaign and instead run independently for the presidency.

Editor's P/S:

The allegations of campaign finance violations against the super PAC supporting Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s presidential campaign raise serious concerns about the integrity of our electoral process. The alleged failure to properly disclose $10 million in loans and $9.65 million in loan repayments is a blatant disregard for election laws and undermines the public's trust in the fairness of our elections. The DNC's complaint with the FEC is a necessary step to hold the super PAC accountable for its actions and ensure that the rules are followed.

Kennedy's connections to donors who have backed Republicans in the past further fuel concerns about his candidacy. The support from GOP megadonor Timothy Mellon and the provision of security by De Becker, who has donated to both Republican and Democratic candidates, raise questions about Kennedy's true political allegiances. The DNC's efforts to highlight these connections are justified and serve to inform voters about the potential implications of Kennedy's candidacy.
