Derek Hough shared an update one week after his wife Hayley Erbert's emergency brain surgery, expressing feelings of "relief" amid the challenging journey they have faced. The Dancing With the Stars judge posted a video on Instagram showing him walking with Erbert in Washington, D.C. with a caption describing the past week as a time of uncertainty and fear. However, he also highlighted that they are now filled with hope and relief as they share the update.
Erbert, 29, has been "doing well" after the incident, with Hough noting that her recovery has been miraculous. On December 6, during a performance of Hough’s “A Symphony of Dance” in Washington, D.C., Erbert was hospitalized after experiencing disorientation. She was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma and had to undergo an emergency craniectomy.

Hough revealed that his wife, whom he married on August 26, is still on the road to recovery and will soon undergo another surgery to have a skull implant inserted. This will restore the skull to its natural shape and provide protection for the brain. He expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from fans and also acknowledged the excellent medical team caring for his wife.
