Dean McDermott is providing further insight into the decline of his marriage to Tori Spelling, explaining the reason behind his decision to announce their separation in a social media post in June.
In an interview with the Daily Mail published on Thursday, November 16, McDermott shared, "One of the most difficult memories I have with Tori is that last argument which occurred when I was intoxicated and filled with anger. It was the night where I directed my rage towards her and our children, and that's when I witnessed the extinguishing of the spark in her eyes. I shared the post because I had reached my breaking point. I was completely lost and didn't know how to proceed. I had caused destruction once again."
McDermott's Instagram post on June 17 conveyed a profound sadness and a heavy heart as he announced the end of his 18-year relationship with Tori Spelling. Despite their separation, they pledged to continue working together as dedicated parents, supporting and loving their five children during this challenging time.
"I had reached a point of absolute desperation. That evening, I resorted to drinking and relied on medication," McDermott confessed to the Daily Mail. "Following the post, I ingested additional pills, taking around six or seven Ambien, desperately hoping that I would never wake up."
McDermott has since come to realize the immense harm that would have been inflicted upon countless lives had he perished that night. He clarifies that his actions were a plea for assistance.
“It may not have been the correct approach, but it successfully captured the attention of the specific individuals I sought. It reached the ears of the exact audience I desired," he expressed remorsefully. "I was overwhelmed with guilt as it turned out to be a terrible idea, which caused significant distress to my children."

In 2006, he and Spelling tied the knot. In December 2013, we uncovered the truth about McDermott's infidelity, which was extensively documented in the 2014 reality series True Tori, chronicling the decline of their relationship. However, they were able to overcome the affair and remain together. McDermott recently confessed that their separation earlier this year was a result of his struggles with alcohol, but he emphasizes that he is now sober.
"This is the outcome and consequence of the situation, which eventually resulted in the deterioration of our relationship, as explained in a separate interview with the Daily Mail published on Wednesday, November 15," he stated. "I reached a point where I couldn't continue in the same manner. The tumultuous lifestyle filled with anger and constant arguments became unbearable."
