Tori Spelling is asking for spousal support from Dean McDermott, who has undergone a career change recently.

According to his Instagram bio, the 57-year-old McDermott describes himself as a "Dad of 7, Actor, Comedian, Chef‍, Alcohol and Drug counselor, and Breathwork Specialist."

McDermott shared his journey to sobriety, which motivated him to become a drug and alcohol counselor after going through his own struggles.

"I decided to work in recovery because of my own experiences in treatment and living a sober life," he revealed to Page Six in March. "As an alcohol and drug counselor, I assist individuals in various treatment centers. I guide alcoholics and addicts in finding the same path that I have found and continue to walk on. It's truly fulfilling work."

Despite his initial hesitation, McDermott shared that breathwork has had a profound impact on his life since his very first session. He admitted, "I wasn't sure what it was. It sounded a bit artsy fartsy to me. But I decided to give it a try with an open mind, and I ended up falling in love with it."

Having appeared in movies and TV shows like "Open Range" in 2003 and "Due South" in 1994, McDermott mentioned that he is open to the possibility of returning to acting in the future.

"I feel lucky that I have found a special talent," he shared. "I have a talent for assisting people and also for acting. I am grateful to have two talents and two passions that I can pursue in my life. So, I will keep working in drug and alcohol rehabilitation and acting. I never stopped."

McDermott has not only pursued acting but has also explored the world of cooking. He impressed audiences by winning season 2 of Rachael vs Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off and even served as the host of Chopped Canada.

McDermott used to proudly showcase his skills on his Instagram bio. However, keen observers noticed that he recently removed a line mentioning his ex-wife Tori Spelling.

Spelling filed for divorce from McDermott in March, nine months after their separation. They have five children together: Liam, 17, Stella, 15, Hattie, 12, Finn, 11, and Beau, 7. McDermott also has a son named Jack, 25, from his previous marriage to Mary Jo Eustace.

Spelling called McDermott while he was on his way to work to tell him she had filed for divorce on her new podcast.

She mentioned to McDermott that the paperwork had been completed and it was just a formality. She asked if he had a lawyer and questioned how the situation would be portrayed.

Days later, McDermott broke his silence in a video obtained by the Daily Mail, saying, “Tori and I are good.”

Editor's P/S:

Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott's divorce highlights the challenges of navigating career changes and personal relationships. McDermott's transition to drug and alcohol counseling and breathwork specialist demonstrates his resilience and desire for personal growth. However, the removal of Spelling's name from his Instagram bio suggests a shift in priorities and a potential strain in their relationship.

The couple's divorce proceedings also raise questions about spousal support, especially given McDermott's recent career change. Spelling's request for support reflects the financial implications of a divorce, particularly when one spouse has experienced a career shift. It will be interesting to see how the court addresses this issue, considering McDermott's current income and potential earning capacity as a counselor and breathwork specialist.
