David Beckham is reflecting on the challenges and triumphs he and his wife, Victoria Beckham, experienced during their 27-year marriage.

“After watching the documentary, after everything was over and we watched it finally, that’s the one thing that we looked at each other and was like, ‘I don’t know how we got through the last 27 years, but we did and we have an amazing family, we have amazing businesses and we’re happy,’” David, 49, said in the upcoming Monday, May 20, episode of the “SmartLess” podcast per People, referring to the 2023 Beckham series.

David shared that both he and Victoria, who is 50 years old, feel emotional when reminiscing about their relationship over the years. He mentioned, "When you spend that much time with someone, you naturally experience highs and lows. Everyone goes through that, but we were fortunate to have each other during those tough moments."

Reflecting on their past, David highlighted that Victoria was a member of the Spice Girls while he played for Manchester United. He expressed, "Even during the challenging times, we had each other for support and that was the most valuable aspect of our relationship."

David and Victoria got married in 1999, two years after they first met. They have four children together: sons Brooklyn (25), Romeo (21), and Cruz (19), as well as daughter Harper (12).

When reflecting on their early days, David shared, "We were both 21 and 22 when we first met. By the time we got married at 23 and 24, we were already parents to our first son, Brooklyn. Becoming parents added a new layer of responsibility to our family."

David feels very fortunate to have had a successful career, especially with his children supporting him from the sidelines.

He mentioned, "I always wanted to start a family at a young age, and meeting Victoria was lucky for me because I wanted my children to experience my career alongside me. Fortunately, all three of my boys were able to be a part of most of the teams I played for, and that was a significant aspect of my life."

Despite facing challenges over the years, such as allegations of affairs with models Rebecca Loos and Sarah Marbeck, the couple appears to be stronger than ever. Just recently, Victoria wrote a heartfelt tribute for David's birthday on Instagram.

"Happy birthday David! I love growing old with you! You're not far behind me! You mean everything to us! You're the best dad and husband, we all love you so much."
