Comedian Dana Carvey expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from his followers following the passing of his grown son, Dex Carvey. The actor, known for his role in "Waynes World," shared his appreciation in a heartfelt message on Saturday stating, "I am simply grateful. Thank you."
"My wife and I have been deeply moved by the outpouring of love, poignant personal stories, and incredible compassion we have experienced," he shared on X, formerly known as Twitter. "Numerous heartfelt messages from individuals who had the privilege of knowing Dex have touched us in ways that words cannot adequately convey."

Dana Carvey, on the other hand, made it known that he intends to temporarily step away from his professional commitments and social media platforms. He expressed his desire to comprehend the new dynamics of life now that his family has expanded to include three members. Alongside his wife Paula Zwagerman, Carvey is also a proud parent of their son, Thomas Carvey.
The couple announced on Thursday that their 32-year-old son Dex passed away due to an accidental drug overdose, as mentioned in an Instagram post. The specific drug involved was not disclosed by the family.
According to preliminary estimates from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a staggering number of nearly 110,000 individuals lost their lives to drug overdoses in the United States in 2022, with over two-thirds of these cases connected to synthetic opioids.
"To anyone struggling with addiction or who loves someone struggling with addiction, you are in our hearts and prayers," Dana Carvey wrote in the Instagram post.

Carvey gained popularity as a cast member of "Saturday Night Live" from 1986 to 1993, and for his role as Garth Algar alongside Mike Myers' Wayne Campbell in the iconic "Waynes World" film series.
During the show's finale, Carvey received support from "SNL" as Colin Jost, co-anchor of the recurring sketch "Weekend Update," held up a sign expressing, "We love you Dana and Paula."
"We will heal the best we can and carry on," Carvey wrote Saturday, adding, "Our darling Dex would have wanted it that way."
