Sydney Sweeney is rumored to join the cast, potentially portraying Julia Carpenter, also known as Spider-Woman.
In an interview with Variety in April 2022, Sweeney revealed that she had purchased "numerous comic books" as part of her preparation. The expansion of Sony’s Spider-Man universe continues with a new action-adventure flick with a female focus: Madame Web.
The film centers around the Marvel Comics character, Cassandra Web, also known as Madame Web, who made her debut in The Amazing Spider-Man No. 210 in the 1980s. Madame Web is a clairvoyant specialized in foreseeing the destinies of various superheroes within the Spider-Man universe.
In the comic books, Madame Web served as a mentor not only to Peter Parker's alter ego but to many others as well. Typically portrayed as a blind, paralyzed elderly woman surrounded by intricate web-like details that sustained her, the movie will feature Dakota Johnson as the lead character long before Cassie reaches old age.
Sydney Sweeney, who is rumored to portray Julia Carpenter/Spider-Woman, will be joining Johnson in the upcoming project. In an interview with Variety in April 2022, Sweeney mentioned that she had ordered numerous comic books to prepare for the role. Expressing her passion for the Marvel and Sony Universe movies, the Euphoria actress revealed that she has been an avid fan and deeply immersed in this world for her entire life. Who’s in the 'Madame Web' Cast?
Joining Johnson, Sweeney, Merced and O’Connor will be Adam Scott, Emma Roberts, Tahar Rahim and Mike Epps.
Johnson shared her journey of preparing for the movie, following her involvement in smaller projects such as The Lost Daughter and Cha Cha Real Smooth. "With my experience across different film levels, I can incorporate elements from independent films into blockbuster movies... you know?" the actress expressed to Collider in June 2022. "I truly appreciate witnessing grand-scale films that maintain their heartfelt essence."

Have Any Photos From Set Been Released?
In October 2022, Johnson and Sweeney were seen filming scenes for an upcoming movie near the Grand Central subway station in New York City. Johnson, known for her role in Fifty Shades of Grey, was dressed in jeans, lace-up black boots, and a red leather jacket. Meanwhile, Sweeney, known for her role in Euphoria, sported auburn hair, glasses, and a skirt paired with black knee socks.
Behind-the-scenes photos taken by a Boston Globe reporter also revealed a movie set featuring advertisements for Palm Pilots with "3G speed" and a billboard displaying Beyoncé's debut album. These details hinted that certain parts of the movie, if not the entire movie, would be set 20 years in the past.

Does ‘Madame Web’ Have a Trailer?
On November 15, 2023, Sony unveiled the initial trailer. This teaser not only substantiated Johnson's portrayal of a young Cassandra Web, but also showcased her character's initial foray into experiencing psychic visions. Furthermore, the trailer revealed that Johnson, along with her group of three young Spider-Women, will face off against Ezekiel Sims, a notorious antagonist from the comic book series.
