As of October 25th, 2023, Christopher Norman Worcester has provided an update regarding the Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 version. This update introduces a complete revamp of the Cyberware system, specifically addressing the changes in the process of obtaining Cyberware items of different rarities/tiers. Additionally, a video guide will be included to offer players the most comprehensive information.
Within Cyberpunk 2077, players have the option to choose between two main leg Cyberware options: Fortified Ankles and Reinforced Tendons. Regardless of whether players prefer Double Jump or Charge Jump, it is important to note that only the Fortified Ankles offer an Epic Variant. As a result, players must exercise caution in making decisions during one of the game's main missions if they wish to acquire this specific Cyberware.
Epic Fortified Ankles Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 Update
The Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update has completely revamped the process of acquiring and using Cyberware for players. Previously, players had to rely on specific Ripperdocs for specific items. However, now all Ripperdocs carry a wide range of items, except for the unique Iconic Cyberware found in Dogtown's Phantom Liberty.
The importance of Street Cred in determining access to Cyberware has been eliminated. Instead, the rarity of an item is now tied to the player's level. For example, Tier 1 items, previously considered Common, are now available for levels 1-9. This means that when players visit a Ripperdoc within this level range, all items available for purchase will be Tier 1. Tier 2 items become available at levels 10-19, Tier 3 at 20-29, Tier 4 at 30-39, and Tier 5 at level 40 and above. As a result, the highly sought-after Epic Fortified Ankles will now be categorized as Tier 4 Fortified Ankles, and players will be able to buy them from any Ripperdoc once they reach level 30.
Upgrading Cyberware in Cyberpunk 2077 2.0:
Aside from purchasing Tier 4 Fortified Ankles, players will also have the option to acquire them through 2.0's new upgrade system. The Ripperdoc now allows the upgrading of each Cyberware piece using the appropriate Item Components. Each tier now introduces a second stage, indicated by a 'plus' symbol. Upgrading Tier 3 Fortified Ankles will first transform them into Tier 3+ Fortified Ankles before eventually reaching Tier 4. This system offers both an alternative to buying the item and an opportunity to obtain it earlier.
How to Get Epic Fortified Ankles in Cyberpunk 2077
In Cyberpunk 2077's Main Job titled "The Space in Between," players embark on a mission to locate Evelyn. Throughout this quest, they will encounter a Ripperdoc named Fingers, who is known for his unsavory reputation. When given the opportunity to punch Fingers, it can be hard to resist the temptation.
However, it is crucial to note that taking this action will result in Fingers closing his shop indefinitely and refusing to sell anything to the player character, V. Interestingly, this particular back alley Ripperdoc possesses exclusive items such as the Epic Fortified Ankles mod and various other valuable Cyberware. Thus, it is highly advisable to refrain from punching Fingers. Unfortunately, players who have already done so will no longer have access to these coveted items.
If you managed to remain composed during Fingers' intense questioning while searching for Evelyn Parker, you can locate him in the same establishment as before. His Ripperdoc shop is situated in Westbrook, specifically in Japantown, which is slightly off the main route. The way to locate it efficaciously is by marking it on the map and subsequently following the indicated marker. Players can identify the correct building by spotting the prominent Fingers MD sign adorning its façade.
Upon entering, engage in conversation with Fingers without resorting to violence. Instead, proceed to the Trade tab where you will discover the Epic Fortified Ankles upgrade. Similar to the Rare Fortified Ankles upgrade, the Epic version enables players to execute a Charge Jump, while also offering the ability to hover at the peak of their jump. This enhancement serves as a bridge between the two jump modifications, providing a combination of vertical movement and agility for the ultimate jumping experience. It is regrettable that such an impressive modification can only be obtained by abstaining from physical altercations with a character as questionable as Fingers.
Numerous players who have already made this decision are just now realizing that these potent Cyberware upgrades are inaccessible to them, which has resulted in a predominantly negative reaction. The prevailing opinion is that it is illogical for Fingers to possess upgrades of such exceptional quality, particularly when it appears that no other Ripperdoc has managed to acquire them for sale.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, and later on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
