Despite the improvements made in Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0, some issues still persist with the game. One prominent problem that players have encountered is a bug in the quest step of The Killing Moon mission, where they are required to wait for news from Songbird.
For players who have completed the Firestarter mission alongside Songbird, but find themselves stuck waiting for news from Songbird in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, this guide provides solutions to resolve this frustrating error. Here's how to fix the issue of waiting for news from Songbird:
How Long Should You Wait For News From Songbird?
The quest objective should be completed within 6 to 8 in-game days. The next step involves a phone call from Solomon Reed to the player. As the player character, V, you can choose how to respond to Reed during this brief conversation. Please note that the dialogue options chosen will not have any impact beyond the conversation. After this conversation, players should expect a call from Songbird, initiated through the Relic, to discuss a meeting location.
To avoid unnecessary waiting, players should not exceed 7 in-game days for updates from Songbird, including the phone call from Solomon Reed. It is not necessary to complete every mission, side job, NCPD Scanner, and Gig in order to trigger the call. If players are wondering when they will receive a call from Songbird, it should happen relatively quickly. However, if they haven't received a call yet, they may need to consider these four solutions, as console commands cannot resolve this issue.
Fix One: Wait Seven In-Game Days Or More
Once players have finished the Firestarter mission and obtained The Killing Moon quest, they will find themselves in the Badlands with Songbird driving to a safe location. At this point or later on in the game, players have the ability to skip time in Cyberpunk 2077. They can do this by either waiting or sleeping. To do so, they simply need to open the player menu and locate the Skip Time option in the bottom left corner of the screen. From here, players should choose to wait around 6-8 times for a period of 24 hours each, and then wait until daytime. Following this, they should receive a call from Solomon Reed.
After receiving the call from Reed, players can repeat the process and should only need to wait for 3 in-game days for Songbird to contact them. If this approach does not work, players can try following the steps in a different area or refer to Fix Two, as it might lead to greater success moving forward.
Fix Two: Complete Run This Town
After the events of Firestarter and the demise of Kurt Hansen, Mr. Hands will soon contact V with a lucrative business opportunity. This opportunity will ultimately determine the future leader of Dogtown, and V must choose between Jago and Bennett. This mission is both entertaining and relatively brief, making it a must-try for players. Some players have shared that upon completing the Run This Town mission for Mr. Hands, they finally received what they had been eagerly anticipating from Songbird.
Completing this mission should take no more than 40 minutes, especially if players decide to skip through the dialogue options. However, it is worth mentioning that Run This Town is widely regarded as one of the standout missions in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. This is largely due to its unique portrayal of a renowned assassin. Upon finishing the mission, players have reported receiving a call from Solomon Reed, which serves as the initial step in obtaining updates from Songbird. Should this not prove successful, players are advised to attempt Fix Three.
